Managers are pointless! They think they can come in and change our doctors minds by a one day ride along or give us the "kool-aid" line of using the detail piece, setting the patient profile, demonstrate the product! Please tell me how they know my doctors more then I do! There are some managers that need to step off.

Can a manager turn a district around? If so, what does he/she need to do?

Yes, he/she can. They can start by acknowledging the BS upper management feeds them and quit thinking they are smarter than their reps. No, drinking kool-aid is NOT part of good business, it is part of morally bankrupt, sleazebag, bad business that has ridiculous turnover like Ranbaxy does. Next, quit quoting the management training manual and think your reps won't notice. Your reps have years of experience spotting BS, don't think they turn it off talking to you.

Last, reward your top performers, or they'll get jobs somewhere else. Like me.
