This is just the start in pharma, Amgen signalled to other companies that it's open season for cuts. Amgen flat out called out what was already known. With reps out of the field for Covid, sales had little impact and ample money was saved from travel and expenses. Amgen even went so far as to say "we'regoing digital and some telesales". If you want to stay in pharma, get into marketing or some role that is still needed. Digital banner ads, digital viz aides and others, will always be needed.

Your company will be next, optics won't be as bad since "other companies have done it". Take control, hone your skills. Driving around in a car doesn't differentiate you, this year will be tough for all of us.

Your post is partially true. There was little impact with low potential targets...but high to medium targets showed a correlation between call activity and prescribing behavior. So the geographies with a disproportionate amount of low targets and limited access were folded into adjacent territories.

Covid will get better, amgen- Murdo are using covid as an excuse and certain amgen products are not meeting inflated sales goals- repatha and others. Clearly, not all companies are created equal. Amgen will have layoffs and will in short order start hiring again.
