Just be happy you got an offer, I know someone who was axed after 7 years because he was no longer liked by one manager. He went into deep depression and hasn’t been the same since.

Great question! Please tell me how someone with just a few years (less than 3) pharma experience, this being their only pharma gig, gets chosen for several roles /special assignments reporting directly to the RBD? Tenure and experience does not seem to factor into selection criteria for promotions, special assignments, etc— it appears instead to be a detriment for selection. What exactly is the selection criteria you are using? It’s only fair that you post the criteria you are basing these decisions on. If not, many may assume age discrimination. Which many of us are assuming that.
Maybe because they are more talented and motivated than you and actually sought out these extra things in order to advance their career? Not knowing anything beyond your post, that is my hunch.Great question!

I've been here almost 5 years as a sales rep.. the manager here are slime- they have a big ego because they sucked up to someone... they are uselessIn most cases, pharma advancement is mostly a popularity contest rather than who’s best for the role. Not always, but it’s the gold standard.
Reps act like children because they’re treated like children. It’s not the gig it used to be for sure. If advancement is the goal, keep moving and don’t stay too long in any role.
I know exactly who this manager is! He even promoted a new rehire to a leadership role over the 4 females in his district.I think each territory is different. Our manager prefers males. He promotes males to the committees and councils that will get you noticed for promotion. Despite 3 females in the district that are high performers requesting these roles.
The “not knowing anything” is a correct statement. Your “hunch” is incorrect but nice try pom pom waiver.Maybe because they are more talented and motivated than you and actually sought out these extra things in order to advance their career? Not knowing anything beyond your post, that is my hunch.

They are non human-with Twix for brainsSo, let’s explore this a little bit more in detail. How many managers do you actually know well enough to make a broad, sweeping statement about all managers? And, what exactly is the connection between a big ego and sucking up to someone? What does that look like in action? And, are you really saying all managers are useless? I know 5 years in a super long time that apparently makes you an expert in other people’s jobs, but I’d love to hear more.
