Lots of postings up for statin/cardiovascular jobs...any details?

Hope I am not bursting anyone's bubble, the philly area offers were made starting thursday & over weekend. Manager is moving on to other areas this week. This is the truth! If you still have f2f coming up, the product you have to sell is all natural microwave popcorn. Super easy. Good luck everyone.

A warning to everyone accepting offers on thsi contract. LIPITOR is going GENERIC IN NOVEMBER!!!! Over half the market will go generic... no way this will last one yaer....I think it will end mid to late Novemeber when they realize that no mattter how many reps they put on the streets....physicians don't give a fuck, they will be switching all their patients to the 3 dollar wal mart co-pay drug. Seriously consider where you are at in your life...You are honestly better off working off for Comcast in an outside sales position than this shitty fucking contract. You will deal with all the homestudy bs. micro-management of a manager who couldn't hack it in the non-contract world and you can most likely blow out the water in a head to head selling competition. and worse of all you will deal with all this bullshit just long enough to deplete your unemployment for this year. Don;t be desperate good things come to those who wait. Publicis is grade D in contract companies as well, they are the homeboy industries of this segment. This is why AZ went with them surprisingly? Because AZ knows this is a dead end contract and I'm sure PSS gave them the lowest bid. Good contract companies with better reps are Ventiv, Quintiles, and PDI which is only slightly better than PSS. Don't just take it to take it, these shitty opprtunities are always there and they always hire d=shitty unpolished reps that they are expendable. WORD TO THE WISE.

So I got a call and email from verifications to start background check for employment but no offer. Very interesting! Anybody else in the same boat? I believe if I was going to get an offer I would of had one by now. They were finished Friday interviewing in our area.

They could have made their decisions by Friday, but then the candidate's background check may have failed...so then they will move on to the next candidate, and do their background check. Or, the manager may have interviewed more candidates today, and she/he is waiting until the interviewing is over before offers are made.

I have 2 friends in different parts of the country who are interviewing today, so they are still taking place. I've heard from a good source that the managers are hiring people that they know rather than the best interviewer/best candidate for the job. Most of the offers should be made by tomorrow (Wed). Good Luck!

AZ thought that the Saturn study would show superiority vs Lipitor in a head to head which it did not. It makes you wonder if this is the initial reason they contracted with PSS to promote Crestor. If there is no significant advantage, the providers will definitely go with generic atorvastatin.

I started out my pharm rep career with Ventiv. They lost contract and I worked for PSS for six months and the contract was ended. Then I was fortunate enough to work for Novartis. For personal reasons, I had to resign from Novartis after seven years.

I was contacted to work for the AZ contract. There is huge difference in contract sales organization positions and working directly for the company. In this economy, if this is all you have, then you have to do what you have to do to survive. But unless things have changed (and I have no reason to believe they have by talking to those in the industry), you have two or three managers - One PSS DM, the DM for AS, and a AS partner. You will be required to get 8 or 9 signatures a day, while the manufacturer rep only has to get signature if they leave samples. When I worked for Ventiv and PSS it was so embarassing to have to ask multiple doctors in the same practice to sign for samples. Now, offices are just not going to tolerate a rep wasting their time to sign for samples. The product is not new and they aren't going to allow you to detail them for over a minute on the product - much less let you find their name on the your computer and sign.

Pharmaceuticals is dying on the vine. If this is your bread and butter, even if you work for a manufacturer, you need to investigate alternative careers. Manufacturers will hire a few BSNs to do product launches. Two of my neighbors/friends are reps for major manufacturers and they can only see 30% of their targets. And these are ex Wythe District Managers (Pfizer bought Wythe) who have tons of experience and leave the house at 8:00 am and don't come home until 5:00 pm or after. I know because I teach school and noticed all summer their work ethic. Doctors don't value reps at all anymore. When the weekend CME trips and expensive gifts ended, managed care became so prevalent and internet information is so accessible (usually a hand held device that can tell them everything they need to know from A to Z), the value of the pharm rep lost its value, except for a rare few who still like their staff to get a lunch (whether they show up or not). If you choose to not believe this - you are in denial. It is like the debit card and on-line banking replaced any need to go into the bank. Or how their will be no mail delivery (at least not every day in the near future). I had to do a career switch.I think it is putting your hand in the sand if you don't prepare to lose your job - whether it be contract or manufacturer.
