Layoff info

Calls starting at 9 AM eastern. Usually the layoff calls go out first and the safe calls come later in the day. I heard there was a lot of DBMS severed yesterday evening so you may get a call from a new number. Good luck to all.

You have a right to vent and say what you want, but I have been in the pharma industry for over 25 years and their will NEVER be a union for white collar positions. Even if you tried the companies will fight you and win. Layoffs are part of everyday life, I have been the recipient of many, including mergers, closures and being let go because they can do it. My best advice is to go through the emotions of being angry, throw things, rant and rave, then you have to get pass it and move on. I agree this is the worse time of the year to deal with this, but things will get better, you will find a much better position and learn from this. Best of luck and I mean that sincerely.

The Orange One signed an executive order to allow the government to buy drugs at the same price as other companies and end all subsidies to managed care companies. That will tank the industry.

You do not belong here! It's easy to give an advice, but it does not feed you. The real jobs feed you. Companies like AZ frequently do layoffs because they hire too many wrong people and when they dont need you, they throw you out. I worked with AZ for a number of years and left them 2 years back. I saw all bad hires, majority were hired only because they were white. I was allowed to hire 2 colored people who were very capable, but never were given the recognition and chance to prove themselves. Tthey were there only to show that we care! so if you are not white, AZ is not a place for you to work

Nobody cares in AZ my friend. Ruud's email on this topic is the worst message. It does not give any information and direction. I didn't see any workplace posts. Did they block the workplace posts? What happened to the speakup culture?

I have learned many things, and if this happens to me in the future, I am well prepared because I learned from my past. So take your former self and get the fuck out of this thread. This is so true and so very sad. No recognition for many years of service for so many. Never to be spoken of again. We are all expected to carry on like nothing has happened.

Politics aside, that's the one that has weighed heavily on biopharmaceutical companies. Not just AZ. While awful, COVID is a short-term nuisance for lack of a better term. Pricing? That's a much bigger problem. Trump actually could have made a huge difference a couple years ago but pulled after taking heat from lobbyists and members of Congress. Good for patients. Bad for pharma.
 








The culling of the Diabetes primary care team was well overdue, COVID-19 just exposed it. A bit of history:
When AZ entered the diabetes market, they did so by forming a 50/50 partnership with BMS. Later, the joint companies purchased Amylin. Then, when AZ bought out BMS's half of the joint venture, they now employed "All the Above". It is shortsighted to think this action should not have happened a long time ago. Frankly, the thinning should have occurred after the Amylin and BMS actions respectively.
