Layoff email-here we go again........

This morning there are articles about China is pushing the price of drugs down or make the big pharma comnpanies compete on price. Pfizer and Merck were named as two companies not too pleased by this initiative. Is this one of the emerging markets Mr. Frazer is talking about? We are doomed.

Merck is becoming the Wal-mart of the pharmaceutical industry, cheap crap made in china and India

Severance is coming to SP before the end of the year, hence the extention. If they waited till after the first of the year, major class action suites. That's why there wasn't a PMP. They know who is going Legacy SP bye-bye. Next round after the first of the year to Merck employees with 10+ years.
" I hate to say it, but I'm doing it for the stake holders," Just like Fred waiting on that big check and walk away rich.
It's cheaper to offer sevrance now, rather than paying for 6-7 more months to unmotivated reps, with potential liability to Merck and the STAKE HOLDERS AND THE STOCK SLIP.

If they got rid of all the SP reps in my territory there would be no reps you IDIOT!!

Currently little or no access in these institutions, so it's a different game today. (no food or promotional programs allowed!) Very tough job for hospital reps.

Still doable but very tough. I had to get some influential physicians to literally drag residents and other key docs out to have out own "journal club". But it is expensive and not as convenient. Again, the current Merck sees no value in these extra works. I used to go home at 10 or 11 pm every night because those were the time we were able to drag them out. Looking back, I was such a loyal Merck rep and I missed seeing my kids growing up.
