Lantheus Medical Imaging

I'm sure the "bird" is rising....some where...kind of ironic to see Lantheus sales representatives trolling for jobs on LinkedIn...i.e. "I am considering a position with a Fortune 500 company involving cardiac imaging or medical devices".....I wonder how management views this? Who cares? Management is probably out trolling for jobs as well.

Well, let's not forget that its possible to be smart AND lazy.

A lot of the long timers are just running out the clock.

Yeah, there's the cherry on top of your life's work. You just punched it in didn't you? Boy you showed them. You lasted them out. Kinda like "A life without meaning" right? The end of a long, meaningless journey to nowhere. Got the kids through college, worked for an asshole but you could never say it, lost your self respect but what the hay. Won't need it where I'm going. Where they serve chowder every day and swap boss-dodging stories? And what should we put on your head stone? He lasted! Until he didn't? Who were you again?

You know, Avista taught me about ROI and EBIDTA.

That means, that just like them, I measure the success of an endeavor by how much I take from it, relative to how much I put into it.

For example, Avista put in a relatively small amount of money, and took out many times that. When all is done, they will have been successful at maximizing the return on their investment. What's left of the company won't matter to them, any more than you are concerned about what happens to the food you leave on your plate. You got what you wanted from your meal and the scraps are irrelevant.

I appreciate this lesson from Avista. It taught me that the true measure of a successful career is taking the most salary and benefits for the least effort. And under Avista's tutelage I have been very successful at this.

I'll find my sense of self worth elsewhere, like from my family.

You are right, in the purest context of business. I just hope you will not apply the dispassionate rules of financial assessment to your family. If you apply rules to gain SELFworth from your family, your missing the point. In the case of a family, being selfLESS is more important.

You have very articulately but simply provided an easy to understand analogy of Avista's business strategy. Well done! As for the Zen like banter between the two of you...well I think the advice our mother's gave us long ago still applies. "Just because all your friends are jumping off a bridge doesn't mean you should too". Everyone makes their own decisions and owns the benefits or consequences that result. It ain't always easy. Good luck to all of us finding our way.

Recently contacted by Lantheus for Sales position selling Definity. Looking for some short quick feedback beyond "Run Away"!

It would appear some positives are that the current CEO has financially turned the corner and the company is seeing better quarterly performance.
It also appears they have shored up supplier issues and have filled several stop gaps on manufacturing. Across the country they don't have a ton of open rep positions.

The negatives are obviously being owned by a venture cap group, appears they may have just about shuttered all R&D and even the quarterly fillings reflect that. I have a deep background in imaging and Echo and I don't see a ton of contrast being used much in Stress/Resting echo and reimbursements V. cost are not that enticing and haven't seen recent evidence based studies showing improved outcomes. The territory recently did not get a major contract you'd have to have to get anywhere near your number, prompting the previous rep to quit. Very uncertain future??

I've already pretty much answered my own question here but looking for some feedback input anyway!!!

First you need to get past the personal stuff.
Are you single, married, responsible for kids? Need to relocate or not? health insurance for yourself only? Check out the LMI plan, especially if you have kids. Don't count on a bonus cause you won't make your numbers and will likely be continually reminded of it.
I wouldn't place too much faith in LMI financials. They can be creative and "better performance" is relative, particularly compared to where they've been. I take it you're aware that a long standing supply agreement with Cardinal no longer exists. Find out how that relates to Definity. They're not out of the woods with contract supplier issues. They went from BVL, with long standing FDA issues, to Hollister with more FDA problems.

If you're a risk taker and can get another job on short notice if need be, than give it a try. If you are looking for stability, look elsewhere.

I can tell you from personal experience that anyone left there is not sure from one day to the next. I don't have hard feelings about my time there but I do leave it off my resume. Yes, if you are a risk taker, go ahead but as soon a you start, try not to pay attention to the survivors. Those are the ones that will poison your well. All the good ones are gone and what's left are shattered, fearful and paranoid. They have been through too many near misses and it shows. The marketing communication , PR and HR could survive nuclear fallout. Very dangerous, two faced and sneaky. Most folks left have 3-4 job titles. I was there when they cut everyone's pay. If you don't have a family, and you need something to do, do it for yuks. But know you're getting on a cynical sinking ship. Bldg 600 is full of 60 somethings trying to get to the finish line and will do anything to get there. Good luck. Take notes, write a book about it then retire. :)
