Silly link and crappy study. Every country is different. Some allow DTC advertising and some don't. Some we operate as Merck, or Merck Sharp & Dohme, joint venture, or through a local national pharma company. For the latter two examples how could the consumers know it is Merck & Co.? Some are national health socialized systems and some are not while a few are semi-socialized. My college professor would give me a "F" for designing a "survey" like this.

Read the paper: 75% of these "patients" were based in Europe-the bastion of socialism that has been infecting the US for decades now. These fuckers are sheep that don't know the meaning of the word Independence. Having never know what true Capitalism is all about, it's not surprising that they vilify the concept of profit and anything that produces it.

With that said, I would be the first to agree that pharma has completely lost sight of the big picture and has overpriced existing meds to make up for the failure of R&D to produce new therapies. Over the last 10-15 years this has opened the door to generic utilization which erodes pharma profits even further. I think we are past the point of no return in this trend.

You need to ponder why it is so hard to "do the right thing" as you say. Merck needs radical change in its executive culture but we all know that is not going to occur for that is, too hard to do.

Many studies with docs also have shown they love Pfizer and Novartis. They will tell you the reason why? Parties, drinking, golfing, strip club, etc. Don't know why Merck always got upset with those studies unless they want us to start doing the same.

IMS and all those "pharmaceutical research" firms keep coming up with all these stuff and we keep believing and buying the reports at exorbitant price.

Screw the patients - if they don't like us then don't take our drugs - quit bending over backwards to appease these fools
