Is it true OCEAN done in September?

The above post is spot on. One of my former co-workers was 1/2 way through a 2-week training at the corporate office (another co.) when a re-organization was announced. New hires completed training, we're out in the field 1 week, and then 1/2 were downsized. That's just the way pharma is. It's crazy and yes, thousands, if not millions, of dollars are frequently wasted, but it is what it is.

By all means though, keep the faith if you like.

The Ocean team has thus far done what it was hired to do, and that is increase NRxs.

Then they should extend the contract for at least until the end of the year. AZ mgt is impressed with ocean performance.

That is right only ocean is responsible for growth of crestor. It has nothing to do with the other 3-4 people from az calling on them. You guys always complain about shitty lists well you territoy was designed/ made up cherry picked targets!!!!!

Touchpoint gets paid for every rep they place in the field. You can bet they will be hiring and placing reps in the field until the very last minute that they are told not to. That is what has happened in the past with them, as well as the other contract companies. It is also the nature of the beast.

"Why are open territories being filled and new hires sent to training in DE in August? Why does the current call cycle run from July 1-Dec 31 if this is true?"

Because this is the way that pharma is run!!!!!

My last company ordered me a new vehicle two weeks before they laid me off. I know of several trainees for this same company who did their home study, and were waiting at the airport for their flight to training, only to receive a call on their cell phones telling them that their position had been downsized/eliminated. "Thanks so much, but don't get on the plane."

Publicis must hedge their bets and continue on as if the contract is being renewed because they don't really know what will happen yet. They will only know when AZ tells them. And they have to be operating as if it will be extended, just in case it is. But if it isn't, then it's "thanks for coming to the training class, but you all have to go home now."

Does anyone know if CSAs over too?

I'm a contract rep but just wondering if they were letting go of all people.

Yes all are done. The pharma industry is shutting down! They ended Ocean because there are too many crestor reps and AZ direct reps have been complaining. If AZ was smart they would just let go all AZ reps & keep contract reps, but I see AZ crestor reps not making it past this year.

Is it official? I heard that Crestor contract ends sept 18th and you have to stay on for a month making 8 calls a day to get bonus. Is it true? Sounds odd, but would not put it past pharma or pseudo pharma AKA contract.

To all who were displaced I like to ask if you plan on staying in the pharmaceutical industry? If we stay, dont we become part of the problem? We have become a bitter bunch of people sticking around for the crumbs that the pharmaceutical industy gives us. I know the money is better than what most jobs pay, but how long can you go on pretending that this will become a career again? I know reality sucks, but it is true. Pharma is NO longer a career, its am unstable job with pseudo benefits.

Let's face it, it is no longer a career because the players are lazy. Most reps don't really have influence on sales numbers just depends on if you get a med that actually works. It's more of who brings the best lunch & who correctly remembers what drinks the offices ordered at starbucks. Most will stay on because what job can you work 2 hours and call it a day? When we do work more than 2 we are kissing up socializing over Olive Garden's take out.

Yup. So glad its over for me. I recently cancelled an interview when I was told it was a 4 step process. Its not that I can't do the process, as I have done it several times after losing my job over and over. Instead, I was just not excited about going back into the industry, with all the idiots that are in the industry and all the fake crap, and I know that I am not going to develop anything meaningful skills on this job. Worse, I am not going to have any leverage as I get older.

As you stated, most people stay because the job is easy and the money is there.

Its becoming a total sell out job too, because pharma products are not that great, when you consider all the side effects and all the natural alternatives and preventative measures that people can take to improve their help.

I could have written the same post! Had another iv with a pharma co, but cant do the process or training. It truly is a sellout job and this contract ending will give me the opportunity to change the direction I go....
