I work at amgen. ask me anthing. I'll answer honestly

Will the Deerfield HQ be shut down? If yes, will Amgen offer relocation packages (including cost of living wage increases) for HQ staff to go to Thousand Oaks, California? If we don't want to go to California, can we work remotely?

No cola here. No relocation packages unless you are senior management.

RARE disease or any disease at Amgen ONE rep gets credit for the Dr. FACT. Learn to read...

You can't use personal days for Fridays unless your boss is cool. Our RSD sent something out making sure we were NOT using personal days on Fridays and they were only to be used for multiple dr.'s appts or family emergencies. SOME managers are cool and don't care, but there are plenty who do care and micromanage those personal days. You also can't take them off the day before holidays, that's a huge red flag.
there was a female manager who tracked the personal days of reps as they get a printout and spreadsheet of which reps are taking personal days and how many before vacation days. She micromanaged. I know this for a fact as she singled out a rep who always took her personal days before vacation days. They do get a report.

Amgen is BIG Pharma. Horizon is not. Amgen will track your whereabouts. The 401 k is good, but other companies now giving 10% match too.
You get so little stock that it's a joke. The days of a good out of RSU's are OVER when you come to Amgen.

You must drive the Company car and be tracked. The cars are nice here IF they could get them.

People driving around with 100K as fleet can't get cars due to the plannedmic.

Lots of conference calls and validation that is a total JOKE.

All true. The only division that is treated like adults is dermatology but word on the street with Kave gone, so is his protection. The rest of us are jealous AF and dermatology will be fully digested in 2023. When's it popped out, they will have QBRs, weekly reports, FCRs, and standing teleconferences like the rest of us.

Oh, yeah - kiss RSUs goodbye. I won the trip two years ago and got $1500 in equity.

Amgen doesn't care about being put in a disadvantage as they are the most arrogant "biotech...laughable joke" around. They are narcissistic and think they are the company there were in 1988. They aren't.

They do not care. You will keep your salary but Amgen does NOT Pay well. They can't get people to come here as the starting salaries are far lower than other companies, and they say "good" "don't come here". Managers don't have a lot of leeway. They have a little but not much. I know reps in the INBU here for 17 years who are making less than $150. FACT
Go fuck yourself. FACT

Every Friday regardless of what company I'm at is a personal day. Fake calls and a free day off. Especially in the summer. Fact.

You Horizon guys are getting our best GM. Consider yourselves lucky. We’re all terrified of what’s coming next for us.

I do understand your business. One rep gets credit for the Dr. If the Dr. sees patients at multiple locations, the Dr, is assigned to one rep and any script that comes out of the Dr. goes to ONE rep, Dr. initiates it and whomever owns the Dr. gets credit. It's a FACT. Amgen does not give dual credit or even split the credit. The enrollment form comes from a Dr. who initiated the treatment. It's not the infusion site. It's the DR.

Dear dipshit,
Enrollment forms are not filled out for all of our patients. It’s not mandatory,
So, NO, you do not understand our business. Now get out of here with your supposed expertise on all things Amgen and rare disease.

Houses in Camarillo years ago were $750. Now I'm sure they are well over $1.2 and they aren't much. I relocated there about 8 years ago and paid $750 for 3000 sq . feet. I'm sure it's far more now. I moved back to the Midwest.

Amgen does not know how to do "rare disease" so they will be clumsy for quite some time. One rep will get credit for the Dr. if the Dr. travels. If you have a more rural area, you will be screwed if the Dr. also goes to a large teaching institution.

You can fake calls if your DSM is not trying to get rid of you. As someone else said, Amgen is the most arrogant company out there. They refuse to play ball with high salaries and just tell good candidates, don't come here if you won't take a pay cut. A friend of mine making $165 at Novartis was going to move over, and the most NuBu would pay here was $130. She was going to have to take a $35 K pay cut. She didn't come over.

The RSU's are a total joke-and as someone else said, I won the trip a few years ago and got $2600. You have to stay , too, to get the RSU's . It's like 5 years so you never get them.

Personal days...red flag for sure on Fridays and definitely not before any shutdown or holiday. Micromangers do look at those reports saying which reps have taken how many personal days and when.

Amgen will never adopt your culture. They are the worst in the industry to make changes that benefit the field and the worst in the industry at product launches. They've messed up every product launch they ever had--the NuBu Aimovig launch and the Prolia launch were huge debacles. NuBu is still paying the price for poor product launches.
Raises are terrible 2 % or so.

It's a suck up culture. If you don't suck up, you won't go anywhere. 10% match is great, but others offering it too. Don't buy Amgen stock at the discount as it's a joke of a discount--like 5%. Not worth it.

Cars are nice when you can get them.

Shutdowns are nice, but many companies now giving summer shut downs too.

You will be on web exes and conference calls and validation calls and calls to talk about what you should be doing. You will have business plans no one looks at.

Welcome to Amgen.

(I’m the OP) happy to do it. Everyone’s experience and expectations are different, so while lots of people from horizon will love working at Amgen, some won’t. Some don’t like working anywhere

I highly doubt it’s “lots” as I don’t know many people who like making less money than they currently do, which is inevitable at Amgen, even if it’s just the loss of our significant yearly RSU grants and superior ESPP. Those that like to work will be especially unhappy.
Many will leave. There are so many rare disease drugs coming out…and with companies that offer better incentives than Amgen and/or are willing to give us raises on our already inflated salaries.

(I’m the OP) you might be right. No way to know for sure other than pure guessing at this point. If people leave, OK. If they don’t, that’s Ok too. I like my job here, I like the culture, and I’m happy. I can’t control how others feel or what people post
