Hybrid sales force

this position will all come down to the managers, as it always does. there is a lot of stress for these roles. a good manager will help and be of service.
unfortunately, management in pharmaceuticals today is akin to a porn director.

I was told $80k and uncapped bonus.

In terms of comp, 80k base, 20k bonus, 600 car allowance, no gas card (.10 a mile)
In terms of the project, they’re looking for 60 reps to sell what they are calling a blockbuster drug” (Billion dollar brand) which is impossible and comical when you hear the business plan. Go ahead and look up the list of best selling drugs of all time-those companies had thousands of reps in the field, not 60.

They haven’t made a profit in a very very long time and the investors are loosing their patience. So there will be an unbelievably high demand for performance - if you’re not selling - you’ll be quickly fired. Territories are oversized and difficult to manage, you will be busting your ass like never before! These guys haven’t sold anything for a long time-they have an idealistic approach and don’t have a clue...
They just want to build it up enough to sell it off to a bigger company.

Turnover will be high, they want “125k a yr reps” for 80k-ain’t happening...

THIS!!! ^^^^^ You hit the nail on the head....they definitely have high expectations and a low salary to go along with it. It isn’t realistic to expect award-winning, experienced reps to accept that salary and those benefits. Let’s face it....there will be very little “hybrid” selling going on. This is a launch and you can’t launch a product from your home office. It’s really misleading to say this is a hybrid position. I would only take this job if you need a job....and then continue looking for something better.

Interviewed with these bottom feeders and it was the first time I’ve ever seen someone get annoyed and aggressive when I asked about monthly marketing budget (just one of several RED FLAGS). The growth goals and projected numbers were ridiculously high, maybe these guys were high too, that certainly would explain things. I didn’t bother following up or returning the recruiters calls or emails, this is one of those high stress jobs where no matter what you do it’s not good enough and or quickly forgotten. Similar to selling photo copiers or payroll.
Lol

Nope

well, I accepted an offer, need a job so really didn’t have a choice, was hoping to find something good on here about them but no, my instinct was right,, got a bad vibe from the trainer/sales guy but I need a job and have nothing else going on in my area. I’ll just see how it goes and in the meantime keep looking for something better. Dammit.

Today is Scynexis' PDUFA action date for Brexafemme. Has anyone had their 2nd and final interview ? What questions were asked? When do offers go out? Thanks for any updates!

great analysis here.
these companies are so silly and not worth working for.
Better move is to just find a customer service gig from home or sell real estate/insurance if they are going to have these large territories, micromanagement, and no or little bonus.

Outside sales is becoming a terrible job the past decade with these computers that track your every move as well.

Lucky for them, they will have the younger candidates that under value their time and quality of life and will always take the low pay and over work, for the honor of having a big mortgage or putting their children through over valued colleges.

Well put! When you take a step back and look at what has become of this industry, with few exceptions, you will see the insanity of it all. If doubting this, work a few years as a rep and re-examine your perspective within 5 years.

This is exactly the correct analysis of what is going on. The momentum will continue until there is push back or Pharma Mgmt. runs out of fools to hire.

My first interview with my would be manager went great. He seemed like a person I could happily work for. I made finalist and that interview was a nightmare. Tons of high pressure talk like I was already in trouble and put on a plan. Wtf.

Same happened to me, made me feel like a just dodged a bullet.

I thought it was very telling... the d-bag with 2 first names clearly has a lot riding on this and is convinced this pill will be very difficult to sell, I bet the price is sky high.

How much will they charge for one pill?
