Huge Layoffs Coming in October 2024

Think about all the single moms and dads out there that are impacted or parents where only one has benefits such as medical insurance. Or anyone for that matter who does not land quickly and has monthly bills to pay.

Well now that we have, finally, gotten these cost saving exercises underway, we can get back to a sure fire way to make this company great again.
Share buybacks ( Irony is will probably be true)

Guess there out of luck but its not to late to pick up one of those Volvo XC 90 sales chuck wagon chariots for a buck over at our 410 George Street parking garage by Monday 28 October.
Thanks for the heads up I can confirm my appointment on 28 October to pick up one of those Volvo XC 90 sales chuck wagon chariots for a buck over at our 410 George Street parking garage by noon for $1.00

Do you think they waiting until after the election to announce the total number of employees being cut so they don’t embarrass or hurt the Dems?
Yes and No. Definitely a factor but also about PR & PC. Do not want the investor community and internal associates to know they are cutting 19,500 people of 130,000. 15%

Good point and imagine if word got out to Wall Street about the 410 parking garage loaded with hundreds of Volvo XC 90s lieflat sales shill chuckwagons charriotts rotting away unsold for a buck, $1.00.

The cuts have nothing to do with the election. They never announce the total of employees cut. Stop being a maga twat.
It absolutely is. 2022, all of the Silicon Valley tech companies waited until 2 days or the week after the 2022 mid terms to annnounce their massive cuts. Amazon, Facebook, Google, Microsoft and many many others. Look it up. Each company had 10K+ job cuts. All done right after the election was done.

Also J&J does announce cuts. 1 quick google search can prove this. Here is one example from 2023: Johnson & Johnson layoffs hit medtech business, with more than 350 cuts in California

And to be clear no one said the cuts are due to the election. The question asked is if they aren’t announcing the total impacted yet because of the sensitivities around the election. The person refuting this question did a slight of hand in rephrasing the question to make it sound ridiculous

True.
All about Politics and PR.
And the firings happen during the Holidays. ( Don’t look here, look over there.)
And, Managers want their end of year bonuses.

Not all, the investors will be super happy and stock will go up. The stock should 230+ though it has been dragged down with so much fat and overhead .. neither JNJ cares about Democrats… J&J is a republican company.. ..

I don’t think 19,500 will be impacted. That is extremely high. Are you confident this number is accurate?
JNJ current headcount before the layoffs is higher than before KenVue spinoff. JNj spin-off 15B and still increased his headcount considerably.. that’s the crux of problem, the leadership fiasco from Bill Weldon to Alex Gorsky to JD co tinues.. JD was suppose to clean up the org but still struggling with fat built in the organization.. JNj may need to do another 10K in next 2 years if they cannot resolve talcum lawsuits quickly .. I AMS shocked how much folks are ignorant of JNJ situation across different sectors

That is one announcement from 1 of the multiple sites what were impacted in 2023. And it wasn't a J&J announcement. In my 15+ yrs with J&J I have never seen a J&J annoucement where they stated XX employees were laid off or Y% of employees were impacted.

Exactly right. I was a Director in MedTech for many years - the maze of legal entities keeps them below the threshold for WARN letters and for bigger headlines. They'll lay off 50 people in Raynham and 100 in Cincinnati - but never anywhere does it say how many people total in Medical devices.

The other dirty secret is that it never really reduces headcount (as others have noted). The lawyers have it all streamlined now - we combine a group of 12 with another group of 12 and end up with 20 people, so we can get rid of anyone we don't like. But invariably, within a year, headcount is right back to where it was.

There's just way too many people at JNJ who aren't doing anything valuable. It has gotten really bad, and its going to kill the business (at least MedTech) if they can't get it under control.
