Huge Layoffs Coming in October 2024

Don't forget proximity to eligibility to the retiree medical benefit. If you are close to eligible, you will be a target. Why pay for that if they don't have to. Large layoff within DePuy last year and almost all affected had been with the company for 15+ years or were over 50 yrs old. Got 'exceeds expectations' every year, but I was 6 months from retiree medical eligibility so out I went. Looks like I am also on a 'do not re-hire' list, because I have applied for several openings (some identical to my prior role) without so much as a reply. This has got to be the most ageist organization ever.
I had heard there was free healthcare for JNJ retirees. This is simply not true and JNJ allows this urban legend to continue through the company without clarification. As a retiree, you still have to pay and it's not the same offerings as what you get as an employee. The free healthcare is called Medicare.

I have read Abbott offers free healthcare to all its employees.

The attendance tracking is feeding layoff rationale. If your onsite are your location less than 2 workdays (in hours) your name is sent to hr and leaders are notified.

F your presentee-ism.

So Mr. Brilliant you think the total number is 231 just because you saw that number in a NJ warn notice. Wow, what a genius you are. Can you not read specific details posted above for CVM and other groups. The total is already close to 5,000 now. If you are missing a brain do not post on here. You are either dumb or a company troll, or both.
The number is driven by the total cost savings the company needs, and headcount is always the biggest contribution to operating expenses in a healthcare company. When you have $85 billion in revenue, you cannot move the needle in a noticeable way by losing hundreds of employees, it has to be thousands or tens of thousands.

How many layoffs do you expect by end of the year? Is MedTech far more safe than Pharma?

Agreed 100%

Yes. If you are a Director and you treat people like crap, micromanage them, don’t develop them, go around them, always criticize them, always point out their faults; we hope you get laid off very soon. What goes around comes around. You know who you are. Bye.

Finally someone has common business sense, Layoff has hit all sectors with different % impact. Remember J&J had more headcount post Kenvue than even when Consumer was part of portfolio. JD and JW are trying to clean the mess created by Alex and Bill Weldon, this is years of mess getting accumulated … Not saying all decisions by JD is good one but this clean and more clean up is required if J&J has to change its trajectory otherwise this will become another story like Chrysler …

It'll turn into Boeing first considering how the quality engineers don't have any power to enforce compliance, and at this point they're just yes men. Multiple recalls because the manufacturing sites cut corners is a big problem.

Fire them all, saves lots of money
Yes the higher level people made the business mistakes that caused this problem, they need to be punished for that. F around and find out. The little gals and guys like us did our jobs but some of us have to pay the price anyway. Not fair but we have to pay for their business mistakes.
