How many HCV reps are seriously trying to get out?

Instead of crying on CP, has anyone contacted the OEC?

The only way OEC will listen or care is if a PROVIDER contacts them and provides a testimony based on their experience. OEC does nothing for reps except contact the manager then manager tells others to lie for them to protect and nothing ever happens to them. Calling OEC as a rep does nothing but protects the manager so really PROVIDERS should be contacting OEC based on their direct interaction and testimony of unethical practices. This is how it must be done moving forward!

Ask any competitor and they will tell you that most of their candidates are from abbvie. It's probably 75% of the team that is looking. I don't know you obviously, but you really need to get out and start interviewing. Try to minimize that you worked on viekira. It's a career killer!

I would say more like 90%.

Rumors are that there are 20+ openings at BMS hepatitis and more expected with reps looking to get into oncology. clearly a bad sign and they haven't launched.

Lots of reps out there looking not only Abbvie reps. Excellent talent too. If you haven't starting looking competition is definitely fierce and jobs are limited. Good Luck all.

Depends upon the part of the country. Big metro areas (NY corridor/Cali) yes, more opportunity. Smaller cities or out West not so much.

I am cordial with the BMS rep who is in the majority of my territory. Apparently the leadership there is horrible (the mgrs kiss their butts and the reps seem to detest the home office people), and the HO leaders are not being held accountable at all for the complete mess, and possibly even getting promoted! Meanwhile the reps are detailing a dated product not even related to hepatitis and morale is nonexistent. Seems they are all looking for another position. Communication is apparently worse than poor, something in common with us!

Yeah...it depends on who your DM and RM are and how desperate they are to "win at all costs" ...but these kinds of tactics/direction (I agree - illegal) are being suggested and flat out verbalized to the reps and customers.

Many AbbVie reps are good, honest, and want to get business the ethical and right way ...it's reps who may be new to the company and maybe had previous jobs where this kind of tactic was encouraged and they were not punished for...that are instigating and following suggestions/orders from management. The problem with managers at AbbVie, that have been here a long time, is that they have this horrible, fierce, and competitive nature amongst themselves to see who is "winning" based on number of scripts each one has....it has nothing to do in the "manner" in which they get those scripts...it's just the "I'm winning - I'm ranked higher than you on the rankings". Integrity and doing the right things somehow gets thrown out the window. And when the crap does hit the fan ...and someone is called out on the carpet for doing unethical and illegal things....AbbVie managers do a Lance Armstrong and make the reps the fall guys who need to take the blame. Not all managers and reps are a part of this twisted game, but many are...and it's the managers and upper managers who bully and manage out of fear that make the reps cave in and follow orders. It's truly sickening ....but I would imagine this cannot be a unique situation to just this company....right? Reps just need to tell the managers or upper mangers when given an order to do something "am I understanding you correctly when you say you want me to ask this, that, and do this and that with customer X or you're asking customer X to do this or that...if I called OEC right now and asked them if that would be appropriate and within guidelines...what do you think they would say? I think I need to confirm with them that this is allowed before I do that or before you tell one of my customers that....ok?.....crickets.....crickets....that's what I thought...so we are not going to do that...ok" End of story .....

What about the OEC group? They investigate Reps, what about unethical managers? Why aren't they stepping in and putting a stop to these activities?

I disagree. First, you'll never get a Provider to call the OEC. Second, I called the hotline and was able to download with no issue coming back at me. I agree with one of the earlier posts, instead of doing the CP whine - raise your concern. You can't hope someone else does for you.

Is there really no hope here in the HCV franchise? I'm trying really hard to be positive and look for the things I can control. Last thing I want or need is pushy managers telling me half truths about what's really going on and what I need to do to fix it. I will not jeopardize my sanity nor my integrity to make Viekira Pak prescriptions appear out of nowhere! I'm going after what I can based on the label and asking for patient trials based on the label - that's it. We are under a CIA Abbvie - please listen up and do not make reps do things you know they shouldn't for short term gain. I play clean and fair and don't appreciate management spreading their panic stricken "win at all cost" mentality around me ...I don't play like that and neither should any of us. Because...this may not work out and we will have to find other jobs and we need our reputations to remain good and not pushy, desperate, and unethical! I'm giving it some time and then .... If things don't get better...will need to look elsewhere. Gilead is developing a NASH drug - heard that is the next big thing. Any other companies getting into the NASH drug biz? Any other companies hiring that have drugs that are truly unique and in demand with little to no competition? Thinking I should start researching and seeking out these companies now. Thoughts?

I've posted for a lot of jobs but haven't even gotten a phone or webex interview it. I don't know if it's this launch or what? Bad karma.

It's not worth selling your soul. Sell what you believe is the correct thing that will help the doctors, nurses, and patients. Don't do anything that in your gut you know/feel is wrong. We are here for one thing. To help patients. If anyone tells me to do anything I feel isn't ethically correct, I'll smile and continue to what I would have originally done. Karma is a bitch. And it will come back to bite people.

Pharma sales is a funny thing. Of course we want to help patients but we are measured on sales. We execute a marketing plan that has hints of patient benifits. But in the case of VPak it's not a real patient game changer. Yea it's a cure with bagage. Harvoni is cure with less bagage. Docs and patients like less bagage. Fact.! When new meds come out before us we will beoved down the food chain. There is not an HCV expert who says differently. On a good note I have interviews lined up. Time for a change. Best of luck.
