How many HCV reps are seriously trying to get out?

So desperate are we at Abbvie... sell "off label" to get Rx's?! That's where we as reps need to draw the line. Your manager is an unethical ass if they are "suggesting" you do that.

It's the Abbvie way to look the other way when it comes to getting scripts any way you can.
We are not allowed to see patient information - you cannot assist a nurse in getting patients transferred to ESI or suggesting they'll get free drug if they have a Harvoni denial if they go to VP. This is a very dangerous tactic. You can ask the nurses to pull a list of their own HCV patients and tell them if they're ESI they will have open access and ask them to "give VP" a try based on our label, but THEY have to want to do it and you cannot assist them by looking at their EMR or handling any patient paperwork even if the names are crossed out- that's a HIPPA violation thru and thru. If any manager asks you to do this... It is NOT right and they should be reported to OEC (use your smart phone as a recorder and get them to verbalize to you or better yet a PCP all the things mentioned above that are an OEC, HIPPA, and unethical violation).

Your manager (even upper management) cannot ask you to do those things nor ask a PCP. It is sleazy, desperate, pushy, unethical, and WRONG. Play it clean, honest, be a consultant about the use of our drug based on the label. There are scripts for us to go after based on our label even if it is a preferred insurance for Harvoni we have a medical exception for some things. Our ESI deal is truly unique because it is an open access deal that no other insurance plan is offering. Screw the pill count on that one - F0-F4 can get treated now and that should trump a PCP concern over limiting their "choice". We can get a decent sliver of the HCV business pie and it can be done the right way. Don't cut your nose off to spite your face....the only one to blame if you end up looking like a liar and a cheat...is you. Stand up to managers that want and insist you play dirty...it's not right and you'll be the fall guy if it blows up in your face! Think about that.....

I feel dirty and sleazy after reading this post. Holy Shitballs!!

You guys are actually being given direction/ suggestion/ innuendo by your manager's to do this?! Rufkm?! That's desparate and IILEGAL. If that's how Abbvie rolls I hope it catches up with you. You deserve everything you get!

Yeah...it depends on who your DM and RM are and how desperate they are to "win at all costs" ...but these kinds of tactics/direction (I agree - illegal) are being suggested and flat out verbalized to the reps and customers.

Many AbbVie reps are good, honest, and want to get business the ethical and right way ...it's reps who may be new to the company and maybe had previous jobs where this kind of tactic was encouraged and they were not punished for...that are instigating and following suggestions/orders from management. The problem with managers at AbbVie, that have been here a long time, is that they have this horrible, fierce, and competitive nature amongst themselves to see who is "winning" based on number of scripts each one has....it has nothing to do in the "manner" in which they get those scripts...it's just the "I'm winning - I'm ranked higher than you on the rankings". Integrity and doing the right things somehow gets thrown out the window. And when the crap does hit the fan ...and someone is called out on the carpet for doing unethical and illegal things....AbbVie managers do a Lance Armstrong and make the reps the fall guys who need to take the blame. Not all managers and reps are a part of this twisted game, but many are...and it's the managers and upper managers who bully and manage out of fear that make the reps cave in and follow orders. It's truly sickening ....but I would imagine this cannot be a unique situation to just this company....right? Reps just need to tell the managers or upper mangers when given an order to do something "am I understanding you correctly when you say you want me to ask this, that, and do this and that with customer X or you're asking customer X to do this or that...if I called OEC right now and asked them if that would be appropriate and within guidelines...what do you think they would say? I think I need to confirm with them that this is allowed before I do that or before you tell one of my customers that....ok?.....crickets.....crickets....that's what I thought...so we are not going to do that...ok" End of story .....

Nice job! I will do the same. I am beyond uncomfortable. Thank you for sharing.

Nothing is worth you looking like an unethical creep in front of your customers. You have to continue your job and survive day in and day out in your territory and you won't be able to do that if you follow these jerk off managers and higher's uncomfortable and unethical demands. The only bad part is if you fight back - be prepared to get black balled and watched like a hawk. It's really a losing situation, but if we (reps) all take a stand in this bullying ... we can stop it. Hard to do if everyone puts their tail between their legs and covers up or caves in. Abbvie should know that there is "strength in numbers" we just need to hold our ground. We can do that right????

CIA's are nothing but a joke to Abbvie senior leadership. All about ROI whether we get it ethically or unethically. No worries, just patient's lives at stake. Sheesh, how do we even sleep at night?

And you all thought the Vertex reps were crazy for leaving....hate to say "we told you so". There are some good people left at ABBVIE and for them I am truely sorry and hope they get out soon with their integrity and dignity in tact....for the rest, especially LD and JW--haha toldyou so!

I hope LD and JW LOSE THEIR JOBS....they deserve it the way they treated people

At their level - they'll be retreaded and reassigned to another franchise once HCV implodes- that's if we aren't bought out first. Incompetence at it's finest. We've proven we're ripe for a takeover. The shareholders no doubt want ROI. Layoffs, downsizing, bare bones, lean and mean til the end. Nothing personal, it's just business.

There is no sales meeting to right this ship! Finally somebody mentioned LD and JW. How the fuck did they make it this far? They should never recover from this. Luckily, most of the people they stepped on will find a better place. (I guess that would be ANY place).
