Agreed, but because the price is so damn high, many patients are going to have to wait until their disease advances to get treatment. Gilead has the luxury of being the first, but as newer agents come to market, as long as the cure rates are close enough and the price is significantly less, price will win. Gilead has won the battle, but not the war. The Gilead name is now equated to greed and most people have a low opinion of that and tend to remember the bad over all else.
What was/is the name of the company with the Hep C drug (more expensive btw) that was best in class before Sovaldi? What's the name of the companies that make Oncology drugs that "prolong" life by a few months and cost over $100,000? Exactly. Just because you have an axe to grind with Gilead doesn't mean the rest of the world does.
