Re: Fuck You inVentiv For Paying us CSO's So Shitty! Most Of Us Spend All Day Everyda
Why did you take the job with InVentiv to simply be miserable and act as though they intentionally stuck it to you? You did not have to take the job or is it that you are simply not secure enough to go outside the industry?
Every contract is different and specific to what the needs of the client are. Which includes types of cars, phone allowence, salary, bonus and monthly access funds. While in the inrerview process you need to ask more questions and decide if that contract works for you. If the salary range is 45-50, interview, make a good impression and when they offer you the job simply say that your salary requirements are more than that. Call your recruiter and tell them the same and ask them to keep you in mind for other opportunitues. You don't have to take the first on that is placed in front of you. As an employee it's a bit different. When a contract ends you have to take what they give you. I can see from that point where people would be bitter is salaries are reduced etc.
For the rest of you who are here for the first time stop acting so entitled and be happy you have an opportunity. Yes, the salary is less but it's not big pharma and you did not have to take the job. Big phama will never be what it once was and CSO's will be growing.
You took the job, have some self pride, self repsect and teach your kids how to be honest people with good character. If you don't like it have the balls to get out of pharma all together.
I love these know it all types. For your information, YES, many of the reps DID need to take the job in order to support their families, pay bills etc. So stop talking to everyone here like they're 12 year olds. They are being taken advantage of by pharma companies looking to acquire cheap yet highly experienced labor.
I for one will not spend all of my severence money hoping that perfect job will come along. In this market, people cannot afford to sit back and wait for a better offer. Two months unemployed in this industry proved that. I was a President's Club winner when I was laid off but had high hopes. Three phone interviews and four face to face interviews with different companies taught me a lot. If a company is seeking Hosptial Sales experience and you have none...you will not get the job. If a company wants Oncology experience and you have none, you won't get the job. It doesn't matter how good your sales are or how well you interview. Experience and the ability to walk right in because you have preestablished relationships is ALL that matters to companies right now. (Please enlighten me if I'm wrong here) In the past reps could find specialty positions by jumping companies. It ain't the world we live in at the moment. I was turned down for one contract job because these cheap pharma companies have the audacity to demand experience selling a specific product or disease state. Of course, they want to pay pennies for that experience as well. It is the pharma company that decides how much they are willing to pay Ventiv for a rep.
Here is my advice. When you are laid off, accept a contract position asap...then continue to search for permanent work - interview heavily - as though you have no job at all. I wouldn't give my blood sweat and tears for 9 months before looking for another job. Ventiv and the pharma company will show no loyalty to you. You owe them nothing but what they are paying for. If there is a REAL chance you could get hired permanently, then give it your all. If not, do the minimum and continue to interview and network. Ventiv DOES stick it to the contract reps in one way: Ventiv requires the companies they have contracts with to wait 12 months before permanently hiring you. Otherwise they pay a heavy fee. So, I plan to show no loyalty to Ventiv. If the pharma company I'm representing sits on the laurels wondering whether to hire me permenently they will be looking for another contract rep very very soon. Afterall, a person with my perfectly matched experience shouldn't even be required to join the organizations as contract rep....Please! They are lucky to have me.
During the interview, simply assure them that you can make do with the pay for now and that you are confident you will be hired on by the company you will be representing. Or, just lie and say you don't need the same pay you were making. Seriously, this is not rocket science. It is contract work. No investment on the part of the employer and no committment required on the part of the employee.
My sense of loyalty to any company died with an enormous downsizing that left everyone in my former company in shock.
You are exactly what we are looking for in contract! You are the perfect match. Someone who thinks they are really gifted and talented. Someone who thinks they are really doing Ventiv a favor. Thank you for accepting such a low paying position. We are very happy to have you here. Good luck trying to get something better I believe you haven't had any luck at that.
A rambling contract idiot with nothing else to do but defend the decision to take the lowest possible job available to anyone.
