Electric Vehicle

There are an estimated 40 million to 50 million acres of lawn in the continental United States — that’s nearly as much as all of the country’s national parks combined. According to the Environmental Protection Agency, maintaining those lawns consumes nearly 3 trillion gallons of water a year, as well as 59 million pounds of pesticides, which seeps into our waterways.

Transportation Department data shows that in 2020, Americans used roughly 3 billion gallons of gasoline to run lawn and garden equipment. That’s the equivalent of nearly 6 million passenger cars running for a year!!

Replacing grass with plants is among the most important ways to keep a yard eco-friendly.

Dear lord, give us a break from your excessive and frankly ridiculous thoughts on the environment. While your intentions may be sincere, the BS you spew shows that you are only a useful pawn to the leftists who support socialism and the unhinged few that worship in the religion of craziness called climate change. Get over yourself and get a life please!

There’s nothing socialist about this. EVs are big business. Renewable energy is big business. The market moves toward better technology. Ain’t capitalism grand?

My word, you’re an idiot!

Ok I will spray my grass with roundup and get started

But its not better technology. They actually had electric cars before the Model T. The market moved on to better things over a hundred years ago. This is nothing more than a government power grab. That's why they are being "mandated". If they were better than the market would have dictated that long ago

It is undoubtedly better. I bought an electric car that my wife drives and it costs far less to operate than any gas vehicle. Today’s EVs are much better than early lead acid battery electric cars. The main reason fleets are going electric is to save money. Nothing socialist about that.

You are not saving money when you spend more money on the vehicle up front and then paying for electricity. True you are not buying gas but that does not offset the higher price for the vehicle, the cost of the charger, the cost if electricity, the higher cost of insurance because the car costs more.

Now just stop it right there. How dare you bring pragmatism and common sense into this!

you can’t do math. Any gas vehicle getting over 40mpg based upon todays current fuel cost, cost less to drive. That’s assuming you only charged the vehicle exclusively at home, did not pay for a charger, and did not pay more up front for a comparable vehicle. Since none of those things are true though, you and/or your wife are financially illiterate morons.

Best to know the facts before berating a fellow AZer. The average cost of having an electric vehicle in the US is about $485 per year while maintaining conventional vehicles can cost $1,117 or more a year (source: US DOE)

wait… the same government who is mandating we switch to EVs also says they cost less to maintain????? Woah, what are the chances?!!?!

Assuming a comparable EV cost the same msrp, that $500/yr would really be fantastic. They don’t cost the same though, a comparable EV costs 20-30k more up front. In 10 years an ICE may have cost 5k more to maintain, but after 10 years your EV needs a new $15k battery LOL

Thank you for helping show the facts. These morons just make stuff up and insult people for actually doing the math and making smart financial decisions. Our family not only chose an economical EV but also invested in a PV solar system to save even more.

Wrong. I bought a 2011 Nissan Leaf for $4,100 and it is still running fine on the original battery.
