If your are still at Dynasplint, please be advised of the following if you are not already aware:
1) Routine waivers of patient's coinsurance is a violation of the Anti-Kickback statue and you can be fined substantial fines.
2)If you are still fitting and billing Medicare, please know that the ABN form MUST be signed PRIOR to the patient receiving services, per CMS guidelines.
I'm hopeful that most of you are being conscious of fitting Medicare patients in facilities, but please know that there are other issues you should be concerned about as well (all of these in which I know was/is going on).
I'm not looking to start a riot, but I want all parties involved to be aware of possible violations so that they can be prevented and corrected. If you are not sure or feel uncomfortable about something that you are doing, please consult with your compliance officer, if there is one. Please also know that it is your legal obligation to report concerns of fraud and abuse.

Yes, it shouldn't be "your are"; I meant to say "you are".

Wow, it got very quiet after that last post. Think people realized they are still doing illegal fittings or has the ship finally hit the iceberg? I'm glad I got out long ago. Feel sorry for those of you left here drinking the Kool aide.
