DUI

Wrong way of thinking there. That's just more nanny statism you want. The proper governance is to let people pursue their happiness and if they violate the reasonable criminal laws, such as DUI, then punish the shit out of them as either an effective deterrent or to protect us adults who can make adult decisions not to drink and drive when we are impaired. If you don't care enough about the safety of your fellow man, then I want you locked up for a long time if you break the law. It's quite simple, but the liberals have convoluted our criminal justice system so badly, it doesn't work. So your answer is to deny everyone their individual liberties instead. Lovely.

You would deny the economy to flourish just to shut down our personal freedoms. You are obama and friends. Please don't vote. You're ruining this country. Your good intentions are paving the roads to our hell. Wake up and CHANGE.

Funny you bring up Obama and liberals into this when the two most prolific DUI's were committed by none other than the Republican duo George W Bush and Dick Cheyne. I believe Laura bush was involved in a vehicular manslaughter and daughter also with DUI. Such "adult" talk from a self righteous republican. You should ask your republican friends if they "care about the safety of the fellow man". I'm not judging anyone... I'm saying laws are F'd up when it comes to DUI's. Simple as that. They want you to drink responsibly, well I don't think serving alcohol till 2 am is a responsible action in the first place. If someone is having a last call at 2 am... rest assured he/she has been drinking for better part of the night. You are setup to fail and pay fines when it comes to DUI laws. This is a known fact.

You will be in my prayers until Monday. Sometimes bad things happen to let us find a better way. Good luck to you.

I was pulled over in November for turning right on red. I didn't see the sign but was not swerving or anything. I had drinks with dinner but it had been 3 hours since I had anything so I was not concerned. It was very late around midnight and I am used to being to bed by nine so I was tired but felt I was perfectly fine to drive. The officer told me he pulled me over for the right on red and then asked if I had any alcohol. I was truthful and said some wine with dinner. He pulled me out of the car and started the gymnastics and trying to confuse me on his instructions. He put me in the front of car and I saw his hands shaking like crazy and then asked me to do the breathilyzer . I really couldn't see what it said. So then he pulled me out and handcuffed me and I was .091 at station but all the numbers there were so different. The accuracy is very questionable as I have come to understand on the breathilyzer tests but he did not offer me a blood test and I didn't know to ask for one. Well I got a lawyer and he saw the video and filed a suppression motion and my court date is Monday . I work for a different company and they ran our license check early feb so I hurried up and resigned since I told no one and didn't know til it was too late the 24 hour rule.

So now I wait for Monday to see what direction it will take me in the line of work. My lawyer says this judge is tough but has been known to be at odds with the highway patrol because of their tactics. I have nothing on my license and have always been a 'no risk' driver even when I was with Pfizer a few years ago. It's been a long 3 months of no driving, lying to protect my job and income and just plain feeling like I am a criminal under house arrest. Very devastating to someone who always takes pride in my credit score, drivers license, high employee ratings , etc. it definitely makes you think out of the box as far as work though. I have started to work on the foundation of my own business and will see what I am really made of especially if this coming Monday does not go well. I have to be okay with that.

So to the poster I guess the moral of the story is that we are not criminals(I have to keep telling myself that) and what does not kill us makes us stronger. I have learned an expensive lesson and I will never drink anything out unless someone else is driving. I will be fine either way I know and you will too :)

If everyone was to be actually caught in the act... I would say a great majority of the nation would have DUI's on their record.

OP here, appreciate all the support and response.

I blew a .09 with three beers and one shot of vodka in over 2 hours.

After speaking with a Lawyer, I have decided NOT to report and instead look for a job outside of industry. Hopefully I'll find something before I get caught. I will certainly drag out the case to buy time. I think I will be fine.

I no longer want to work for a company or industry if they are going to tell me how to live my life or fire me because of one mistake.

I'm certainly not justifying my actions and learned a valuable lesson but as one of the posters said, this is my opportunity to get out of this industry.

Thanks guys and ill keep you posted if I learn anything about the process if Pfizer approaches me. I'm sure I won't be the last to run into this issue.

So what's the deal OP? Ya still around?

OP HERE:

Hi everyone- had not checked in for sometime. Well.... I did not stick around long enough to see what would have happened. I could not take my chances or deal with the stress of Pfizer finding out. I quit PFE and started working for a medical device company. It's my third week here and I tell you, it's strange working in a company again (internal) but I realized how much I missed the interactions of working in an office setting. I work in marketing and to my surprise the pay is not bad. I thought I would have to take a salary hit starting something new again but not necessarily the case. 88k base and yearly avg bonus 5-10k and 4% match on 401k. Cell phone is paid but no internet. Ill get to work from home one day a week but not until after 3 months. They also order lunch two days a week. Over all ... pretty good gig.

As for the dreaded DUI- case is still pending but almost coming to closure. I have signed up for a 6 month DUI class and will most likely be looking at a 1 month driving suspension and 6 months of driving restriction (go to work, school, class). Community service will vary but I'm looking at 4-6 days since it was a "simple" DUI meaning no accidents or aggravated factors involved. I'm still undecided on how to get to work for the one month suspension. A friend suggested to post for a driver on craigs list and hire someone for the month but I'm a little paranoid since its a new job I want to make sure I have someone reliable so I get there on time in the mornings. The cab will cost $80 round trip. so roughly about $1600 for the month. Not bad since it's only for one month.

I think the "unknown" for job situation was more stressful than dealing with the actual DUI. From what I have noticed is that these days DUI's are very much standard in it's proceedings and sentencing. 1 or 2 time DUI's are a slap on the wrist with DUI 2 being harsher in suspensions and restrictions. 3rd DUI is a game changer, it typically turns into a felony and possible jail sentence. According to my lawyer, these days DUI's walk without jail time because there is no room in jails for simple DUI cases. Keep in mind everything changes if you are involved in an accident or aggravated factors involved. Thing go from bad to your fuk'd very quick.

I'm rambling at this point. Thanks to all the supporters during these turbulent times in my life. I'm getting back on track and I can say I'm relieved to not worry about the Pfizer B.S. Life is good.

If anyone has any questions please do ask... ill check back this evening or tomorrow evening.

I have a coworker/close friend going through this, and he isn't sure how to handle it. Should I tell him to start looking elsewhere, or do you think he will be ok? He thinks a plea will result without a conviction, but said the breathalyzer refusal will stay on driving record and result in time with a suspended license. I'm the only person he has told, and he has a family. I feel terrible for him.

I feel more terrible for us innocents out here who could have been killed by your poor friend who drove drunk enough to get arrested. He must really care about his family so much that he drove drunk and knows there are major consequences.

Where the fuck do you people come from? Libtardsville? Your morals are ass backwards.

Quiet... not a peep out of you. Did you think the same about Bush/Cheyne combo?
3 DUI's and cocaine possession between the two of them. We won't even mention the daughters DUI.

OP here:

Is he in pharma sales?

refusal is a one year suspension. No way around it and he will not qualify for even a restricted license (suspension time frame may vary from state to state). He should try and fight the refusal which are extremely difficult to win. A refusal at the station means you are giving up your rights to drive.

As for plea down the conviction... not sure.. DUI's are big money making machines for the county; law wants to convict so they can collect $$$.

I would recommend he start looking for new job. But how is he going to get to work even for a new job or non-sales related job? One year is a long time.

Hopefully things will workout for the best.

DUIs get way too much press for the trouble they cause. Moral issue my ass. We have a whole congress full of immorals then. Our former Pres and VP had numerous DUIs between them. The issue should be to focus on bringing back morality not on how many 3-beer yuppies you can catch at 3 am.

Look libtard, nobody gives a shit about your Bush cheney derangement syndrome.

Nobody pitied them for their crimes, especially you bleeding heart assholes who only pity criminals who aren't republicans.

God, you are one sick bitch.

I said earlier that the lawmakers are the scumbags who keep DUIs a joke. Get over your Bush derangement syndrome.

You are a fool if you think DUIs are harmless. You sound like one of the scumbag lawmakers who knows he's an alcoholic and likes to drive drunk. Kudos, numbuts.

You keep resorting to insults. You have anger and strong emotions going through you. You know you can get help for that?

If you can't maintain a meaningful conversation based on respect and facts I think it's best you find something to relax you. I wouldn't want this anger built inside to give you a heart attack.

Take care of yourself. Relax.

Dear Mr Repukelickan - I come from a wealthy family. I could quit my job today and not worry about a thing. But you on the other hand will be a corp slave until you are just about dead. Good luck living your month to month lifestyle.

Not a repub you piece of shit lucky sperm club. Go read your hero's, Karl Marx', Communist Manifesto. You'll see how he felt about you libtard wealthy spoiled socialists. You leftist numbnuts are a friggin cancer to mankind.

Isn't there a fake windmill out there you can fight against alongside your occutard lovers instead of wasting our time here on CP with your emotional elitist drivel?

What are you 5 years old? You let me/others waste your time? You should hold yourself accountable and responsible for your actions and flaws. If you are wasting your time here don't blame it on others. Take responsibility you weak piece of human being and don't let others "waste" your time. Idiot! Typical Repuke
