Duchesnay Drug, Training and Launch Meeting

Drug still not approved. When will training start? The "launch meeting" will more than likely be "drill the reps to death", then it's all over 12/31/13. This will be one strange contract for 7 months or so!

Let's be honest even Duchesnay thinks this product is not going to go anywhere. Why else would they only sign an 8 month contract. I guess the decision comes down to if the money for a few months out weighs the headaches, stress, your pride, and hit on the resume.

Wouldn't worry about a launch meeting just yet. The FDA hasn't approved it yet. If they do have a "launch meeting" of some type, let's hope they don't try to adopt the big pharma mentality of, as you put it, "drill the reps to death". Talk about demotivating a sales force, that would do it! Strange contract for just 8 months. Very different, and scary.

Was told May 1 start. Agree, strange contract. Odds it never happens at all? Money and car alloc.= not great. Products on the Duchesnay website=not great either. Looks to be the "temporary" of the "temporary" jobs.

Now that the drug is approved, the clock on the contract will start ticking. In re a "launch meeting", they need to skip it and save time and money and get straight to the field. Launch meetings tend to dampen any excitement about a drug because they kick your ass at the meeting! Never understood that line of reasoning, but maybe this one will be more laid back and enjoyable.

Anyone have initial offers for this yet? What are you hearing from a bonus perspective? It seems to me like this contract could be a total flop, or a great opportunity depending on how the docs receive it the first 6 months.

Zofran is generic. That says it all. Also, what about managed care coverage and Medicaid? Probably will be terrible. By the time you learn the territory, the contract will be over. Think I will stay where I am.

Face to face interview last week then nothing? The final step is supposed to be a skype interview with offers going out by the 15th. Anyone heard anything since their face to face?

The drug was approved on the 9th, so offers will be this week for sure. They may have a real opportunity here if they don't blow it. The main thing for them is to keep AWAY from a big pharma attitude. Also, I've seen launch meetings have the opposite effect of their intended purpose. When was the last time a launch meeting was actually fun? Managed care will also be critical. Knowing Publicis, they will lowball all of the offers. That's the Publicis way.

It is a very interesting contract for 8 months. I think people will accept offers, then keep looking for something better. A lot depends on management's philosophy. Micromanage and people will start looking immediately for better offers.

Drug has now been approved on the date it was scheduled to. I interviewed but have got the word yet.

UCB contract was ended early today. Publicis low balled the salaries on it, and I bet will do the same on the Duchesnay contract. If they do then the reps will spend their time looking elsewhere.

Offers 55-60k plus 25% base, year long contract.
Fun launch meetings-um, hell yeah! John Mayer, Maroon 5, Blues Travelers, Wallflowers, SNL cast, spa treatments, golf, cocktails...well worth 8 hours of role playing.

very telling that product is appoved (a dog) and they can't get a sales force in place. turnover will be high for those that even take the contract in the first place.

8 HOURS OF ROLE PLAYING!!! Are you serious??? Good God, the sales force will be so damn demotivated by then, I don't think Jesus himself could motivate them! And I call BS on the acts you mentioned above!! Never going to happen. This company will make a HUGE mistake if they beat the hell out of the reps at a launch meeting! They need to forget the big pharma of role-play-till-you-drop mentality. They have a chance to really come out of the gate charging, but battering the reps won't do it. Keep hoping that some small company will go their own way, and not try to copy big pharma. Also, the contract goes through 12/31/13, not a year. In fact, I call BS on your whole damn post!
