The assumption that Pharma makes a great profit from countries with price controls is wrong. The one about being able to put regulatory watches on reimported drugs is wrong since the US has no jurisdiction outside its borders.

Reimportation, the term itself is aniquated and is as bad as misremembering ala Roger Clemens.

You are either principled about this or you are not. Those for reimportation are basically thumbing their nose at the laws and patents of the US. They are also opening up further opportunities for tort lawyers to have many great days.

Why then should I not be able to take an illegal immigrant, reimport him into the country (yes reimport) and replace you and pay a wage that they will accept?

Drug Companies, Insurance Companies or ANY company who skims off the taxpayer, should not be allowed to write policies. THAT is bad policy.

Sooner or later we will have Universal Healthcare, so all of this will be a mute issue. USA will be another country where medications will have to be sold at the same prices as Candada.

The operations people having longs waits for are Elective Operations, like joint replacements.
Emergency surguries are handled accordingly just as they are here. You really need to talk to people who live in Canada or Great Britain rather than listening to propaganda from the Insurance Companies, etc.

Universal Healthcare may not be an entity in the next four or even 8 years, but we will end up having to resort to it due to the need for cost controls. Either UHC OR government regulations on pricing.
