Discovery Labs is hiring!

It will be interesting to see who jumps over to this place. There is really NO incentive from a sales persons perspective? Avg salary, no car, no 401k match, benefits are below avg from what I can tell, two product company, very high pressure situation, avgerage upper management team, burning through a ton of cash, and selling a drug that has been shot down 4x into a very conservative market place where the existing drugs work well with very little issues. Am I missing something? Why would anyone come here unless unemployed and they need a job?

You're absolutely correct- it will be desperate people. They used to work with a recruiting company that I have to admit did a great job in terms of calling all potential candidates month after month to make sure you were interested. This literally was many years ago. The drug surfaxin never came out. I think it is cursed...literally! Red flags! Red flags!

The management is very weak and out for themselves. I know them from the past and nobody likes them anymore. They don't have a clue. VP of sales is a weak leader, not a go getter at all.

I'm telling everyone to not even remotely consider this job. Ask people you know in the NICU unit (that is if you can even get in there). This will be a horrible product to sell and you will constantly feel like your job is totally unstable.

Ha... Good luck selling against the number 1 surfactant on the market!!

I can only imagine what the training class looks like from a background, current employment, and success perspective. Nobody I knew in my area or areas outside my area was interested in this position/company for all of the reasons mentioned above.

Wait until your first performance review you will be rethinking your choice unless you were unemployed...which is a good possibility.

Someone should just share it to piss this little princess off... Lol! Has to be a chic that's worried about not getting a position. She's a little toooo uptight!Must have her granny panties on way to tight!!!!

Glad to see that the people that were interviewing here were mature enough to not share the names of the recruiters. Well done! Much easier to weed through resumes without all of the primary care people that come here for info and dont truly know how to network. Good luck to all who came onboard.

Yeah good luck because you'll need a miracle to sell this product!!

The reason they didn't post was because the prospects of the company are so grim. Why pass on information about a company about to fail?

Why don't you check the stock price over the last month? Analysts have given DSCO a buy rating. No sure how the drug will do but Afectair looks like a winner.

I sincerely hope you do not base your prospective employment opportunities on 1 month of stock performance. For that matter 1 year of stock performance. If you do, it may explain why you are now employed here.

Nope not just because of the 1 month trend but also for the stock options, high base salary, excellent pipeline, medical device sales, and chance to makes lots of bonus $$.

Let me assist in setting you straight on a few things.....

stock options are worth nothing if the company does not perform med to long term....

high base salary is peanuts in the overall scheme of things in healthcare sales...120K is hardly a high base salary and it is avg at best. Not to mention this means nothing if you can't make the real money in commission as well as if you are unemployed in 6-12 months....

This is not a medical device sale..

If you knew anything about this industry, customer, base, healthcare reform, hospitals, clinical trials on the product you would be educated on the fact there is NOT an opportunity to make "lots of bonus $$"...

I am starting to see a trend or pattern based off of some of the scary responses of the individuals who have been hired here. Wait 12 months and come back and read this post again and see who is right.

Within 9 to 12 months, I would suspect a ton of PIPs (or whatever DSCO will call them) will be going out to the bottom performers as usual with a newly launched me-too drug. Afectair is not even a consideration--the sales will have to come first from the surfactant and then the device if it gets uptake. Selling a first timer device is extremely difficult to those who have never sold in that market. Neonatologists are stubborn as hell and don't like new technologies until they absolutely have to implement them by inclusion in treatment guidelines. That's five years off at least.
