Disabled on Cancer & Novartis is taking away my healthcare







Point is you can't start the class action until the change is actually implemented. My attorneys are ready for this fight. I can't wait for depositions & testimony to start flying from Novartis . There will be a web site dedicated to posting every shred of information about this to the public. Every politician under the sun will be sent weekly update links. Novartis will NEVER have this fly under the radar no matter how much crack the former consultant & baert are smoking. OH & they better have a damn good reason they do this in the USA & not euro zone.

Can you post name of law firm to contact? This way we can contact firm and they can start to shape a list so the minute this goes live there will be less lag time. As we will be paying through the nose for healthcare; the sooner they can do some legal maneuver on our behalf the sooner we will get relief from this cruel burden we are being put under. 99% of anyone at Novartis that has ever been on any kind of disability leave have been laid off or terminated. This company needs to be out of the healthcare business in the USA

I was neither terminated nor laid off. I was rising through the ranks after having been here for almost 10 years and was diagnosed with a malignant tumor. I have had multiple surgeries and have been on 7 different chemo therapies. It continues to be quite a harrowing experience. I don't know how long I will live. Now Novartis pulls this on me?

They dont care if patients die let alone employees who for them is a free bonus if they kick the bucket aka no severence

You mentioned you were not terminated. When you qualified for LTD did they keep you on as an employee? Do you technically still have your job or did they consider you retired when you hit LTD? The reason I ask is if you haven't been terminated and or notified deemed retired yet you might still be on the medical plan and will not have to pay the premium.

I understand. Yet if you haven't been notified in writing that you are terminated then you are not terminated. The Insurance company can tell you what your employee status is. If the company hasn't properly notified you and removes your benefits they are liable.
 






Called benefits and it was like pulling teeth to get info. My wife needs procedure next week and when DR's office call ins for coverage they were given wrong info. as MD is under Plan and PPO rates should be the same. DR told 10% co-pay and $750.00 deductable which is not the right answer.

I tried to get the answer from benefits resources dept and they wounld tell me what if any changes were made after 7/1. We were supposed to get an attached Summary Plan Description (SPD) for plan details but never received one& new ins cards, according to letter dated June 29, 2011. Benefits Resources will mail SPD to me but refused to give any info on it over the phone.

Also in letter 6/29 under cost paragraph it states :rates my change in 2012, and you will receive notification with your December Billing Statement for those in PPO plan.
Nice of them to wait until the last minute.

The colder Novartis treats its own disabled employees the Hotter the story is for the sympathetic media. I have an in with a local paper & local TV station in Jersery who will be on their doorstep the minute this happens . I can't wait to see Novartians flee from the cameras & this will start the avalanche of pressure for government to negotiate drug prices & eliminate this crooked pharma perk. My local congressman is notified , his staffers already spoke to me.
Hell I might even stand outside East Hanover's door until I croke right in front of them due to lack of medical treatment
 
























Talked to ACLU and they asked me if all reps who are on disability will get screwed 1/2012 under new health paln and when I told them yes they said its a violation of the Americans with Disability Act and will take a very close look at plan when we get the info in Dec.

Also for those who can get Medicare start looking as Oct 15-Dec 7 is the enrollment dates to be insured for 2012.

Call medicare 1-800-486-2048 and ask for 2012 Medicare & You handbook. They will send one out specific for your state will all the info and expalinations needed.

Rather be prepared than thrown under the buss Jan 1st.
 






Has anyone heard anything as to the new rates which should take effect for LTD Novartians Jan.1? I got the notice this last summer but have not heard anything yet as to what lies in wait for us in 2012.
 






Adding Insult to Injury: I had to call the benefits center today to get an idea of what is going on. No letter has yet been sent out about what the new amounts are. As ridiculous as it sounds, the people in the benefits center haven't been notified about the new premiums. They walked me through what would be the old premiums and I had to ask about how much the new LTD group premiums would be. They had the numbers together when I read the letter from the benefits center to them and go over the stipulations it set forth. The new rates will be about ten times what we are paying now. I don't know when they expect to inform anyone on LTD as to the new rate structure. For those of us that will not be able to afford the new premiums they should give us as much time as possible to sort out our finances. This is not happening as they are not at all ready to give us the new rates. Beware!

I put in the previous post. They also walked me through the working employee numbers until I read them the letter dated June 29, 2011. They have very little in their system to reflect that this letter was even sent even though it is signed by the novartis benefits center. They repeatedly asked me if the letter was from them. When they finally did go look for the new rates (which took a while) they at first thought there would be very little difference and then realized that there is a huge difference. I asked them when I would be receiving anything by mail indicating the new rates and they didn't know. They said they will have to call me back. When you think of the impact this will have and that many people will go have to look for other coverage, this is insult added to injury (and violation of ERISA section 702).
