Dermagraft acquisition

Oh are we a bit angry that OI made a brilliant move and you won't be part of it!

It is pretty fucking brilliant. Now that my night of stupor/celebration are wearing off and I'm clear-headed, Ive got to admit it's pretty impressive. I'd heard this deal might happen, but NO money down? We're pretty smart.

and now every time OI sells one Apligraf it can now use 5 DG on the same wound, even with the smaller profit margin on both products if they are always used together its alot more income.

Uh...not at all. The acquisition is laughable. OI drove AG into the ground, and will do the same with DG. How do they explain all of the competitive bashing between the two products over the years? Data on both products is run of the mill, products are still too expensive and without the marketing dollars of a company like shire... Done before it has begun... Run for the hills if you have half a brain.

I agree

Both dg and apli will be lowered to about 1100 allowing Accounts to make some $ for using them. Either one can be used first and then after the 5-8 applications if wound isn't healed ins will pay for the other product in most cases. It's a win win for patients accounts and OI.
How many of Shire sales force will be kept? How many OI sales force will be let go?

Oh ye of little faith. If it bothers you so much why don't you just stop posting and go get a new job!

Don't worry about me. I have a new job. Just calling like I see it after many SUCCESSFUL years in the industry. Just hate to see people make ill informed decisions that will impact your life family and career because you drank some of the tasty kool aid that was served up. Make no mistake- this will be a disaster and it will not take long to realize that.

And again, cost to treat in a 6 week period will be nearly 7000.00. Ridiculous. Co pays to the patients... There are so many more modalities to utilize and save the taxpayers and patients money. I work in a wound center and we heal folks without these products in an average of 9 weeks. Wound care has evolved and clinicians who know what they are doing will not use these products as a crutch. But alas, others will.

I have never drank the kool aid. Just glad something was done to save both companies (for now anyway) I'm sure exec man will screw this one up too!
Good Luck to you!

Please provide an example of this bc I see and hear otherwise in accounts. What other advanced therapies work so well for a lower cost. I would like to know this info. Thanks

there's no way we bring back the 150 Canton based employee's that they let go in December. Even if they were offered their old positions back, who in their right mind would take it?
