I'm new at this...what does CSO mean, or contract position? So, after 3 years you are laid off???

Interviewed this week with DM on phone. He asked what my last salary was and I told him 59k and 15k bonus at plan. (I have 15 years of pharma exp) He said that salary was "definitely in the range" and I told him that was a totally different contract with tiny territory and no speaker programs, so I would need a lot more like in the 70's. I don't even want this contract (or any pharma for that matter) but I have to play along while I get unemployment. I love doing interviews when I don't care at all. Problem is interviewers seem to like that! This product is going to be impossible to market. And we thought Amrix was bad....
Most of the salary offers for CSO organizations are "take it or leave it" offers. There's too many qualified people out there for them to haggle with a rep regarding pay on a 1-3 year contract.
You can probe some to see if they'll give you more (be sure and put together a case as to WHY you are worth more) but don't give them an ultimatum because suddenly they'll start liking their #2 choice a whole lot more.
You made 59k with 15yrs in pharma??? You posted like you were proud of this fact! You must live somewhere that has no cost of living, haven't got a raise in 15 years, or just suck at your job. Hell, I've only been in 2 years and started at 60k in a primary care gig. I am really sure unemployment doesn't pay you 59k a year, but it sounds like your being lazy. Hate to break it to you skippy but finding ways to stay on unemployment is probably harder than doing this job...
$59,000 a year..what a tool...![]()
Dude, try reading the post again for comprehension, the guy said this is what he told the manager in the interview. He was being sarcastic about what the manager wanted to hear regardless of the reality of the his work and salary history. Hate to break it to you Skippy but you've got no sense of humor and are way too narcissistic to ever have any fun.
Sounds like a great opportunity for someone who needs to work. Nothing in life is guaranteed, so if you get a chance to interview;;; Go For IT! Group Medical, a car, benefits, 65-70K salary, (don't count on a bonus!), and more time to look for a better job or maybe move into management. For me, I am praying to get the chance for the regional interview, and will take the job if offered. Yes, I used to make more but working conditions mean alot and the terrible economy makes someone look at things more closely these days. Nothing has ever been perfect working in pharma, but it beats a minimum wage job with no benefits. Paying a car note, insurance , gas, repairs and my own medical for the past 3 years has been costly, after my layoff. So, I wish everyone well and just remember nothing is forever...even in BIG Pharma.
Why are they sending three candidates to a face to face? especially since they are flying them in??? talk about awkward! i just want the job!!!!
had phone interview with hiring manager - was told I was one of three selected to go to Philly week of August 8th for ftf which includes a presentation.
no more details on which day, flight, etc...
