Cuts to CV Sales Force



















I think Novartis will piggyback on the Xolair layoff announcement and layoff reps in CV, leaving one rep per territory. Gives everyone who is left behind time to reassess their new geography in the dog days of November and December. Then get all pumped up at the Vegas meeting.
Odds are overwhelmingly high that Dez and company know the date and the headcount.
Here is what matters: it's coming. Whether it is tomorrow or next February, it is in its dying days.
There is no guarantee that they are keeping one rep per territory, as you saw what they are doing to Xolair: they are moving to contract sales.
The training was utterly abysmal for Leqvio, but senior management could never let themselves accept that fact. They are pompous enough to believe that they can train-up a contract force and not lose anything in the process. Furthermore, they can make all of the egregious bonus problems go away if they let everyone go and let a contract team handle it.
They showed their hand. They learned from one of Duane's epic fuckups (hiring a P.C.P. team instead of sticking with the contract reps), and now they will likely start shifting everything to a contract-model.
Stay and watch if you like, but don't say Dez didn't warn you.
 
























If Novartis gives us 3 months of garden time like they have done on the last couple of layoffs. Then WARN doesn't matter. It is 60 day warning or 60 days pay in place of that warning.

They got rid of the entire Xolair sales team - the team that generates, in addition to Genentech, over 2 billion dollars a year with about 900 million of that pure profit that goes to the bottom line of Novartis. To replace the sales team with a contract sales force. Another SMART move on leaderships part. When they come for C.V. they can actually save a few bucks, so.you can bet its going to be ugly.
 






There was the public communication a couple of years ago that announced lay offs happening until 2025. Wasn’t that considered a WARN statement? And weren’t the reps that were layed off last year given 7 months of severance? The ISS team was given a different amount recently though.

Yes, I think everyone agrees that a layoff will be coming in CV because Entresto is on the way out. However, they are not going to go contract with the CV team. There’s a de facto hiring freeze within CV as we speak, I foresee a simple one rep territory outcome once the dust settles.

One rep per territory is not nearly enough to make up enough of the loss of Entresto. Once Entresto is gone, 95% of CV revenue is gone with it. Territory size will also increase due to lack of potential. Repatha has won this battle and Leqvio is dead. Expect much bigger layoffs than just 50%.
