Based upon my experience calling on pulmonary and sleep docs in NYC they really do not care for Puritan Bennet c-pap machines. Their machines are pretty basic. Would you rather have a Corolla or BMW? Their technology is not up to speed versus their competitors Res Med and Respironics

Run don't walk!!!

If you want to work for a company that will F you over, choose Covidien! A true nightmare company!

The imaging devision is terrible! There is not a person in the company not out looking for a new job. They raised the quotas on the sales force during the year twice. Once they raised it 4 months before the FDA approval for the generic heart agent. Now they've been delayed by the FDA for at least two months. Guess what? They have elected not to adjust the quotas. Every sales person in the entire company is so mad! I worked for them for over twenty years. It used to be a great job. Now it is below entry level medical sales. Most reps are in the 60-80 K range including bonus which is non-existent. They lie and tell you you'll make 125-200. It's all lies. It's the last place anyone in medical sales should consider.

The executives, by the way, are making money hand over fist. The stock is going through the roof because wall street sees great margins and low cost of doing business. They are raping their sales force. Most of my friends have not had a bonus in more than 8 months. They assured everyone quotas will be re-evaluated at the end of the fiscal year. They know they blew it but are unwilling to fix it. It's all about wall street and the stock. They assured the sales people they would be treated fairly months from now whenever they get around to it. Guess they are too busy spending all their bonus $$$$ as they rape the sales force.

If a recruiter calls you about covidien, run don't walk! You'll make more as a manager at McDonalds!
 






Imaging really does suck. If only I had known. I've been on board less than a year and I'm desperately trying to get out. I don't have enough time to tell you what is wrong with this division. I don't know enough about the other divisions to have an informed opinion, but I can telling you that Imaging Solutions is the poorest career choice I have ever made.
 












You folks are dead-on. Imaging Solutions is an absolute train-wreck regardless of whether you work for the Contrast Media side or the Nuclear Medicine side. Nuclear's VP of Sales has given multiple quota increases with a smile on his face. He makes his number but the reps don't. You would have thought the quotas would've been pulled back once the FDA didn't approve the generic. They constantly find ways to take money away from the reps. Even more astounding is that Nuc Med's management has the nerve to repeatedly tell the sales force that Nuclear is the "shining star" of Covidien. That should give you all the answers you need. I've never been so frustrated.
 






You guys are all 1000% correct. I am desperately trying to leave this company. The ramp up time is 3 long months of studying. They act like its a big time job, big time company. It is the worst job I've ever had! We had to pass a 120% increase on generators to our customers. Imagine what it is like to tell your customer they will have to pay 120% more for anything! We have not improved our performance or consistency with delivering generators. So, our customers paid 120% for nothing in return.

Collins, the big man, increased our quotas after promising not to because their little pet project ?New Day" was such a huge success. Yeah, give our customers plenty of lube before screwing them! We got quota increase 3 months before the release of generic mibi. Now we all owe the company thousands of dollars because we are not successfully selling a product we don't have! Now we found out the release has been delayed indefinitely. There was this big build up of a conference all to "DISCUSS" issues with compensation. They got on the call, told us to trust them they will fix it, but we have to wait until October.

Gee, why do they want to wait until next fiscal year to fix our quotas that they eff-d up? Could it be to lie their butts off to the share holders about their bottom line? What a load of crap! Nobody bonuses anymore so if you can live on a 58,000 base, this is the job!

They are dirty cheaters! If it is believeable, they are less honest than they were back in the TYCO days. Covidien is not a new company, its nothing more than a new logo. They are losers!
 






What's worse, once the FDA approves Mallinckrodt's generic mibi they're likely to approve every other company that applied for it too at the same time. There will be no competitive advantage for the Mallinckrodt or the reps. Yet, you can bet the reps will receive a HUGE quota for generic mibi with little chance of hitting it. That's how it works at Mallinckrodt! Massive, ridiculous, unattainable quotas and therefore little or no compensation. Oh, and there are ZERO products in the pipe behind generic mibi. NOTHING! DRY AS A BONE.

Given that, there's nothing for the reps to do right now, so most everyone I know is either working a second job or playing a lot of mid-day golf. FORE!
 






What they have done increasing quota more than once during the year, giving you guys quota without a product, and not fixing it until after the fiscal year is all legal. It should be illegal to treat reps this way. I used to work for them and I remember signing a contract acknowledging they have the right to raise/lower quota throughout the year as they see fit. I used to think Collins was just a dumb ass and did not know how to put numbers together but I now realize this is purposeful behavior. They know exactly what they are doing to you guys.

I am so glad I left! I heard most of the contrast sales force has left now and nuclear is falling apart. Everyone I personally know who is still working for them is out looking for a job right now. Nobody makes $$$ at this company. I have heard they are putting the screws to the reps in other divisions too, not just imaging contrast/nuc. It is not the place for anyone. It's sad because it used to be a very good company.
