COVID Vaccine Mandate

Very interesting change in policy, especially on the day a new article hit the main stream news showing Pfizer vaccine efficacy dropped to 42% in July. Comparison of two highly-effective mRNA vaccines for COVID-19 during periods of Alpha and Delta variant prevalence

Given Lilly stopped distributing bamlanivimab due to lack of efficacy from variants, its a matter of time until the vaccines are ineffective.

For those who will be quick to blame the unvaccinated for variants, please hold on and do your research....

The vaccinated still allows individuals to carry, shed and transmit active virus. They do not prevent infection nor do they eliminate or cause the virus to be inactivated. A recent study out of Wisconsin showing vaccinated individuals carried as high of a viral load as unvaccinated counterparts. As long as vaccinated carry active virus, they will bread mutations--this has been demonstrated in viruses prior to COVID19, with data to demonstrate the vaccinate will produce more serious variants than unvaccinated.

For now, vaccines work, but this policy is a scary, precedent setting step. But hey, as Dave Ricks said, this is in the best interest of employee health and that is our #1 priority. Maybe future policies should focus on reducing risk factors for COVID, like policies that require reductions in BMI. If employee health is #1 priority, then lets really get to work on making this priority a reality!!

Finally, once everyone is vaccinated, the 'work from home' policy will be revised, not allowing flexibility provided today....For office based employees, your work from home days are limited.

So let me get this straight, our company is mandating all employees get a vaccine from a company that pulled its reps from the field, to work from home, to keep them safe? Makes complete sense.

Exactly. We worked from home for how many months. Had a terrible impact on our stick price. We should be ashamed that we drove it to all time highes even with bam and ete being complete duds.

What percentage of our employees get the free flu vaccine each year? How many refuse? How many demanding the vaccine are smokers?

Lilly could have us work from home again. They brought us back to corporate too quickly with no mask requirements. They aren't commenting on our flexibility there or the rate at which our employees are being impacted.

This is political and to protect Lilly's ass.

Not an anti vaxer, but will Lilly take responsibility for employees who have an adverse reaction to the vax?
This is a sincere question. If an employee becomes sick, disabled or dies will they compensate the employee's family?

I’m guessing it’s the same as if someone had an adverse reactions to one of our drugs which would be on us not the doctor. That would be on the manufacturer of the vaccine.

vaccine manufacturers are currently exempt from liability under emergency use authorization. They are making shitpiles of money with no liability.

if your employer mandates the vaccine and you have a severe AE or death, your employer owns the liability for mandating a non-FDA approved drug as a condition of continued employment.

If you are vaccinated after your employer mandate but before FDA approval, do not let your employer off the hook.

After FDA approval in this scenario if you have a SAE, sue the manufacturer and your employer.

It’s funny all these people complaining about getting a vaccine . These are the same people that are out all weekend in packed places not wearing masks. Then they feel a little sick and call out because they think they were exposed to COVID. Another excuse to not work. For field reps, you’re going into office and hospitals exposed to sick patients. Stop complaining. Office should be mandating it as well and if you don’t like it then go work for someone else.

you should not use the words “all”, “always” or “never” when referring to people. It makes you appear stupid since you cannot possibly know everyone.

AGREED! And many physicians assume we are vaccinated. what is astonishing, these are the same people that don’t have a problem pushing a new medication that’s been studied in a tiny fraction of the amount of people vaccinated worldwide so they can win an award or get a big promotion.

Apparently the reaction was too much. Lilly took down all the comments posted in reaction to the mandate. All for the mandate and all against it. Run roh.

Yes well did you see some of the comments. We have a little something called conduct in the workplace. I’m not saying don’t share your opinion but go through the right channels. I can’t imagine what HR already has on their plate and then you have people acting a fool that they will have to look into.

Let's be honest. They fucked up how they rolled this out. They f'd up the return to work and now this. We keep praising these bozos because the stock price is high. But they can't lead people to save their lives

you’re so right. Old people are not dying this time around… because they got the vaccine.

it’s a younger population in the hospital now because…. Older people aren’t getting hospitalized resulting in lower average age of hospitalizations.

Do you not know how statistics work?

If you want children to be eligible for the vaccine, then push for that. For those with health complications that may be appropriate.

The risk of death for those unvaccinated under 30 is the same of all other age groups after vaccination.

https://services.aap.org/en/pages/2...hildren-and-covid-19-state-level-data-report/

Mortality (43 states, NYC, PR and GU reported)*
  • Among states reporting, children were 0.00%-0.26% of all COVID-19 deaths, and 7 states reported zero child deaths
  • In states reporting, 0.00%-0.03% of all child COVID-19 cases resulted in death

Here is someone so foolish they believe all the statistics and information the government and anyone in a white coat tells them.

How should they have rolled it out? This is quick like a band-aid. We are at will employees - they are giving you a choice.

How did they roll it out?! Cowardly. Sending an email instead of directly meeting with employees and allowing for questions. Supervisors have been given no answers to the questions staff is asking: How does separation affect retirement and unemployment? If I'm fully vaccinated now will I have to get every upcoming booster to maintain continued employment? Why do I have to write a paper to justify a religious exemption -- and who are they to judge my religious beliefs and whether they are "valid"?
