Contract reps.

Try outs for both companies? Who survives in the field? Good reps, complainers, or most experienced and most educated? Who makes it to a permanent job finish line?

It's all about which company gives Mother Merck the "best bang for the buck". Call it tryouts or whatever you want...either way, we're screwed - again! haha...

contract work is no longer a pathway to a permanent position, it is the final resting place for former pharma reps who will do anything for a paycheck once unemployment runs out.

there are no more "permanent" positions anymore. cso or otherwise. hiring, pay and promotion freeze at merck. chances are better for layoff than retirement. these snide comments toward contract reps are really tiresome. the only difference between a cso rep and a "permanent" is he knows when his tenure is up. you don't.

Then fucking leave already and free up your spot for a contract rep who is most likely ex-big pharma and more knowledgable and talented than you.

Yea good luck with the bills. Why not just try looking outside pharma. Why settle for pennies when other industries pay much higher for sales reps. But if you have a second income CSO may work for awhile.

& you think your in sales, while along you realize you've been a walking billboard, an annoying commercial that interrupts people while they are working. Imagine you had to reply to 10 spam emails a day everyday everytime they show up, while your working. & it's the same friggen ones. Think about what you do, then think what a contract sale person does. Same thing if you ask me. Then ask yourself if you really had to secure a contract do you have the hutspa to get the business. Nope you ask someone to sign something to show some overpaid baby sitter that you worked. You just happened to make alot of money which somehow distorted your self esteem so much that you actually believe that there is something somehow different from a day to day perspective. Other then receiving a paycheck from another company. somehow I think you'llbe working for some contract company and realize it ain't much different. I am also an overpaid walking commercial for (insert company) who used to love the good times & the money that's tossed around

Why don't you uppity merck reps quit with the contract rep dispargement. What do you care what they get paid? Most are laid off (one step ahead of you) pharma, just trying to stay employed, get a paycheck, feed a family, supplement a retirement. you think that kicking a cso rep. makes a difference to merck? merck doesn't give a damn what you think. Merck is gonna keep laying off big salaried merck reps and replacing 'em with cso's. I been in the industry 25 years - 12 with merck. why is it that merck reps somehow always think they're special? you think you'll be around in ten years? How about 10 weeks? If you were smart you'd try and figure out how to help your cso help you make your numbers. oh I forgot merck doesn't care about "numbers" anymore, because merck's not a real sales organization anyway. How do you think "survey results" will play on a real job interview? Then you try unemployment when severence runs out. Let's see how proud you are then. Give it a rest. This is the most irrelevant thread on cp.
