Company cars

I don’t think that someone making 100k per year should bitch about a 170 per month car charge for something that can be used at their option in their time off work... spoiled brat.

Also, I don’t know where an earlier person got the info, but immunology pays for their cars, too. It’s about $150. The Prius, which is AWD is free. The fusion is free. The Equinox is $1,000. That’s actually better than it used to be. The Escape cost me more than that 2.5 years ago.
Also, to anyone calling other entitled, you have no right unless you do not complain about a damn thing with this job.
As far as base salary goes, everyone I know in immunology is at least at $120k. I think CV is the cheapest sales force. A rep from immunology moved to MS and got a 10% bump, but I don’t know what she was at.

It's a company car you entitled freeloader. You pump out three kids that all need car seats, then buy your family a Suburban or Tahoe on your own dime and stop complaining about the perk.
OK let’s summarize
The company car selections do not meet everyone’s personal needs. Some people need 3rd row, others like to cruise at 130 mph. It’s personal choice

VIRTUALLY NOBODY CARES if the company car meets your personal needs, if you can’t figure out how to get 150/mo values out of it then you are a moron.

Shut up and drive

Finally, someone with something intelligent to say! Bravo!!

Was offered $150 for MS Mayzent position a year ago. Wanted $152. Said no. Novartis gets ya’ll cheap.

That was smart, offered $170 (LA) and said they “were considering” Tesla 3; what’s this crap about charging for a company car?

You are charged about $150 for your car per month.
With Novartis, you can pay a lump sum to upgrade beyond Prius or Fusion (I just ordered last week). Escape is $1,000. I forget the rest.
My friends at Sanofi (Genzyme) pay $200 minimum. $400/mo for upgrade to Acadia.

If you leave Novartis or are reassigned as the result of reorganization, you don't get a refund or guarantee that the vehicle will follow you to your new territory.

May I ask, please, as a decade plus retiree, what are the current car options and costs for use and upgrades for Reps? I'm interested in what the selections are now compared to my last years. We had a Jeep upgrade for $2,000. and regular selections were: Dodge minivan, Pacifica, Intrepid and a Toyota Camry,

I wish everyone well. You can retire very nicely from pharma as long as you have a different health care plan. I was fortunate my spouse had a superior plan at a reasonable price.

Thanks.

Our cars are basically our office. It feels as if nvs fleet choices are basic because the company devalues the amount of time we spend in our car. Offering upgraded models as standard would be a way of the company showing they value what we do. Seriously better lumbar support shouldn’t be a privilege it should be standard.

New cars for 2020 are a Fusion or Prius or upgrade for an Equinox. This is not a joke. My Amgen rep has a Altima that's not bad

I was recently at a co-promote meeting with Amgen for migraine. In the parking lot, Amgen reps had fully loaded Volvo s60's and xc 40's! The Amgen brass drove pimped out Volvo S90's and Lincoln's, both well over 50 grand. Our cars stink.

I completely agree that you should not be charged for it if you are not going to use it for personal use. That’s like charging a cop for the patrol car. No you shouldn’t have to store it, either.
As far as switching cars at home goes, my husband has a work car that he can’t drive for personal use, and that’s exactly what he does. We also park it on the street or in the driveway, so I don’t see the argument for storing it. My husband does not get charged for his work car, though.
To the person that doesn’t even know how to use the term “could NOT care less”, you can call it entitlement all you want, but it’s a valid point. It is very odd for a business to charge employees for the use of equipment necessary for business that the company owns when there is no personal usage.
My guess is that the company would be hard pressed to justify it if challenged legally.
People get bigger care for height and weight and other reasons. I would challenge it though HR that either you need a bigger vehicle that you can use for personal use or they need to stop charging you for the car.

my territory has no access so I actually use my company car to drive in a major metro area for Lyft. Makes lots extra $$ and offsets the personal use charge. It works out really well

Novartis talks a lot about culture. Begin by selecting better cars with more features on them. The cars are the office for the field forces. It does make a difference!

amen brother!

$150/month for a crap car when this is a $100k plus job makes no sense. Novartis talks about culture and then doesn’t listen to rep’s feedback. WE WANT BETTER CARS!
