I noticed some Ciba Vision territory openings in some various states. Can someone please fill me in with all the basics (i.e. interview process, salary, potential bonus, what kind of company car, benefits, vacation time, training schedule, product pipeline, will i get laid off in a year, etc..........)

Also, please leave the smart ass comments to yourself

First, where in the country you are located makes a big difference so where are you applying? Second you'll be selling in Wal-Mart, Target, any place that has an optical and sells contacts also competing against 1800 contacts.

Im in the midwest, and also would like to know more about the questions the OP asked?

Midwest...could you be more unspecific....there are openings in IL, WI, MN, MI, IN...which are all in the midwest and the managers are all different. BE SPECIFIC! you WILL be calling on Wal-mart working with the r*****s of society no physicians not really calling on offices. The competition is fierce, J&J and cooper are light years ahead of CIBA and it is nothing but an uphill battle with horrible micromanagement and unrealistic goals. Does that answer your questions skippy!?

Ok, who cares about the manager for the "midwest" position.... What about all the other questions posed by the OP!?

Check the archives for discussions about the CIBA SPONGE DIVISION. At the time this sounded most promising since diovan is on its deathbed. I applied but haven't heard from the hiring managers so far.

1. Iv process is PI, F2F, possibly another F2F and offer
2. salary is dependent upon your experience, lower than pharma
3. depends on your performance
4. who gives a shit what type of car you get, it's virtually free...take it and shut up!
5. Benefits are the same as most large pharma's...ok
6. Vacation time...why don't you worry about getting the job first genius!
7. Training is 3 months long (no I am not kidding here!)
8. pipeline...ehhh not much of one. It's contacts not drugs.
9. that is up to you sparky if you get to keep your job or not, but with the way novartis is going now, it is possible!

could you complain any more? If you have better things to do don't go! It's not your money to worry about ya cry baby!

OMG an assessment, a business plan, and a role play on wine....are you kidding me?!?! holy sheeeet!

Yeah, really, what is this all about? I feel this a bit too much for an hour interview. I have an old colleague that is flying down to Arlington, VA for this interview as well and from what she says, they are flying 2-5 candidates per territory. Seems like a huge expense for the company!?

And the assessment, what the heck is that all about? No calculator or dictionary? What is this a SAT test to get into the University of Ciba Vision?

I hope the salary and commission is decent after all of this work for an interview!

How does everyone else feel about all of this?

Ok here I go posting on this Ciba thing. I am in the Mid west OH, MI area. OK now thats out of the way here is the lowdown. They are hiring less experienced people or people trying to break into sales or into a Pharma comp. Before you go and say "its contacts not meds" i know that. Your parent company is Novartis. Well this is what I had to do. Prepare a business plan on something like 60 pages of sales numbers a,b,c doctors etc. Then I had role plays of wine and pens. I think there was another sinerio but can't remember. They are offering 20k less then what my salary was and the bonus was 20k. They said 60k was the highest they could go on salary too. These positions are open territories. Meaning that they put you in an open territory where its vacant due to disability or fired or whatever. You prove yourself and then after you have been there for a qtr. they may place you in a territory. Warning they may put you in MA MI OH NY anywhere they want for that open territory. Good luck if you are interviewing.

WRONG!

1. these are expansion territories not a floating territory, they are launching a new product but won't tell what it is until we get to our interviews. Yes it is a HUGE wasteful expense to be doing it this way (my flight alone was over $400, and a nights hotel where the IV's are. OH BUT WE HAVE TO PAY FOR OUR OWN INCIDENTIALS!?!? So you wanna fly me out make me do all this pre-work shit but you're not going to pay for my parking or meals. CHEAP FUCKS!)
2. business plan, territory plan, 30-60-90 plan, role play on wine, online test with no calc (yeah right like people didn't use a calc who the F can do algebra and shit without one!?)
3. I haven't heard much about salary.....60k?!!? are you serious, no thanks!
4. I really hope this part of Novartis is different than the parent comapny, because Novartis as a company is a fucking joke!
