Changes on Merck Contract...

You are clearly not getting it. Lack of intelligence, I assume. Reread the original post about hours and wages for hours worked for meetings. Think a little bit besides being spoon fed your whole life...I know you are a pharm. rep and are not used to thinking and having your own original thoughts but try, just this once, to think intellectually.

You mean I should get paid to sleep in a hotel room? I Googled it, and it doesn't look that way, but you are much smarter than the average rep like me. Thanks for the info.

No we shouldn't get paid to sleep and eat at a ,hotel 12 hrs is very cheap. It is 2 days out of the field we should get 16 hrs for the meeting. That seems fair but it is whatnitis.

We get paid for travel time to/from the meeting in the car or on the plane/train/cab etc. but not time waiting. We don't get paid for time outside the meeting or for dinner, but I want to go. I think that's fair since they are paying for my food. I don't like spending a lot of time away from home, but I like these meetings. I also never had a problem with my field time. When I had conflicts, I talked to my DM who has always been there for me and everyone else. I think there is a lot of defensiveness and complaining about nothing. Try not to ruin it for the rest of us.

Why don’t you reread your post? Does this mean you are confirming your lack intelligence as I take it you are a rep too? Is intelligence your word of the day? I intelligently assume that you lack intelligence because you are unable to intellectually form an intelligent point.

You are funny! You can't be for real.

You know what my new word of the day is? Immature. My original point is dead on and factual. Unfortunately, most people responding seem too stupid to get it. Engaging with morons is as bad as being one, so Peace Out.

OP here, I agree if a person is not happy with the situation they should move on. One man's trash is another's treasure. My main reason for starting this thread was not to stir up drama, but to get a feel of what is going on elsewhere. We are being micromanaged now, down to total office calls with the percentage of samples. We have people who are on PIP: not slackers, but people who are working and have good numbers! Also, the four weeks that we are to take off during the year, which equates to one week per quarter, in my region, we are expected to make up ALL those calls without being paid for it. I don't think that's fair. I signed up for 24 hours a week, with OCCASIONAL extra work.
In the beginning, I made the most of my 24 hours; to make them impactful with the doctors, because 24 hours is all I got. But as the subtle changes occurred, I sometimes feel, I am working to meet a bunch of quotas and not selling. Part-time was to remove a lot of BS that Full-time has become. Well, now that BS has arrived in this contract and we don't have the time for it. With that being said, I agree with the above poster, that if I don't like something, get out, which I am going to do as soon as I find something that suits me. However I don't agree with the statement " be happy you have a job". That's what these companies want you to think so that you stay here and be miserable(if you are) and you can't do any better. I know that there are better positions out there and I am not going to fall into that mental trap that this is all I can do. I wish you all well.

Sounds like your district is at the bottom go to work instead of complaining and turn things around.. NO PIPS in our district and no micro managing either...Micro managing doesn't start unless someone is given a reason!! not working over time either... doing paper work during the day and making all calls seriously 12-1 is paper work time quit whining your going to screw it up for the rest of us!!!

Those companies want us to think all kinds of stuff!!! Like, if we all do a good job, we can actually keep working for them! Oh, and if we don't do what we are supposed to do, they will fire us! How crazy is that! But, I am sure you are a really nice person who doesn't deserve the slap down you got just because YOU OPENED A POST ON CAFEPHARMA for therapeutic value. How'd that work for ya? Feeling better? That next employer is in for a treat. We all wish you well, OP, nicely done!!!!

I am looking forward to the responses on this board after the upcoming meetings. I think people are going to have very different feelings about where this contact is headed and the micro manangement that is coming (or has started) that we haven't been aware of. At the managers meeting the focus was on us working a full 8 hr day with 10 calls being the new expectation, with 6 signatures being the minimum. Our manager had a CC thurs. and told us all about it. So be prepared, this is what Merck wants them to focus on and what Merck is focusing on.

I can signature chase if they wish numbers will drop but I will do as they wish 10 calls easy 6 signatures easy but this will not affect numbers...still I will be happy to have job

Sure 6 signatures 10 calls no problem can focus on that instead of focusing on the right drs and making an impact. Some days I have 3 signatures, some days 8 it is not reasonable get my wording to think like that

We had our meeting already and no "micro management". Wouldn't you think if it was a manager directive everyone would get the same message? Just wondering if anyone else got that. Our meeting was a lot of fun. If Merck's focus was on signatures, I missed that part.

Our meeting is this week. I seriously doubt this is true. I for one do not even have enough samples to "over sample." this is a great job and really hope this is just typical cafe pharma negative rumors!
