Castle Medical

It's not a hiring issue. It's a management issue. They have hired a lot of very successful former device/pharma reps. Castle just doesn't give people enough time to build an actual relationship and develop the business. 90 days is not even close to enough time to develop a territory and many reps were let go after not getting a sale in their first 30 days.

It is the worst Leadership crisis at AMerIToX

Hello all. I'm a current employee and happy at Castle, working here about 7 months. To give you some correct and inside information. To be honest, they have done a lousy job in hiring in the past, hence the high turn over. The culture here is very unique, refreshing for the right person but for those who have been working in a stuffy environment for years would be taken back by it, and for those folks it typically has not worked out. They seemed to have fixed the problem with hiring people who will work well here. As far as the $300,000 goes, the ad says that the top performers make an excess of $300,000, which is true, but they have been promoted.

What I like the most about Castle is that they want feedback from the reps, it's a young company that wants to improve and grow. The certainly have their issues like many young companies do but the rewards for me outweigh those issues. "Being of Service" is pretty big here, I think one of the DVP's is actually organizing a community service project for their team, where the rep can pick a project of interest and organize others to get involved. It actually sounds pretty cool.

Am I making $300,000 No, as I'm not a top performer yet but Im making six figures and really enjoy my job.

I had no problem with the culture. In fact I appreciated many aspects of the culture at Castle but I was let go. A couple of the people in my training class who were very concerned about the culture are still with the company so I do not agree with your statement that the hiring was poor.

I had a territory that had zero business for Castle. I set up several accounts and then they let me go. Now they are receiving specimens from those accounts without having to pay a representative. Seems fishy to me. I feel incredibly used.

It seems management has a sever problem with making the right hiring decisions.

They aren't hiring bad reps, most hires are people who have been successful selling pharma, device, etc.

Lots of poor management at this company. They want you making 15 cold calls per day on top of the work you do with your existing accounts. Sounds realistic eh?

Do you think that the strategy is to hire reps, push them to develop the territory, then let reps go, consolidating territories with fewer reps and have the collectors do more?

Kind of difficult to get boards when they want 10 new contacts a day. They put so much emphasis on the initial contact, but not the follow ups. Every sales training I have been to, before castle, has promoted the practice of following up.

The 10 initial contacts a day is just another way to show that Castle Medical management doesn't get it. Most sales aren't made on the initial contact, but Rob Mitchell is so arrogent he thinks that he can close every deal on an initial meeting so his sales force should be able to as well.

Why do we need to keep Hc1 live? So Rob can sit there and monitor every rep in real time? is that more important than getting those numbers he is talking about? If we have a million little duties to do during the day, it makes it difficult to get the numbers we need. Also, I am getting sick of management coming down on the sales force because of the complaining at corporate. They need to buck up and give us the support we need and stop crying to Robert when he goes to head quarters.

I agree with the above comment, Hc1 sucks on the ipad! We should have the option of having Hc1 updated daily, not hourly.

I have been in sales for a a long time. There is always some friction between inside staff and outside sales but I have never experienced a company that talks down to the sales people like Castle does. HC1 is extreme micro-management. When Rob became a sales person he called on on a huge number of potential clients which led to sales (throw enough mud against the wall and eventually you will cover it) and got lucky and hit one big one. If he had continued he would have run out of new clients to call on. That is not sustainable in the long run. From what I understand he was only in sales for somewhere around six months? He is basing his uncommon experience on the entire sales force. A one call present, close and board is not feasible or an intelligent goal in my opinion. Instead of growing business at a steady pace and investing in your sales force they are trying to grow to fast and turning staff over and over causing damage in the field. He may be passionate and have had some very short term success but that is not basis for building and managing a National sales force. Yes, HC1 is for Rob because of his extreme micro-management and ego.

I love hearing Rob's karate analogies. I know of someone else who used karate analogies

Dwight: I am a practitioner of Goju Ru Karate, here in Scranton. My Sensei, Ira, recently promoted me to purple belt, and gave me the duties of a Sempai. Not that a lot of people here in America know what a Sempai is, but it is equally as respected as a Sensei.

I wonder if Robert is a Sempai?
