Cameron Health S-ICD

Clearly you're an idiot, because the biggest risk of infection comes at changeout, not at implant

OK, I'll admit I'm having trouble following the logic for implanting an S-ICD.

So you are saying that you should implant an S-ICD because in 5 years, when you do a change-out and you get an infection that you'd rather rip out the SQ leads than the ones in the heart?

I guess I could see that.

Think I'd still rather have a BSX Reliance with a defib in a TyRx pouch.

This site is for sales reps and others in the pharma and medical device industries. It is a place for them to communicate with each other about their jobs, companies, and the industry. Although anyone may certainly visit and post, please be advised that this site is not intended to provide medical or pharmaceutical advice to patients, and should not be used in this way.

Please do not ask the reps here for advice on drug choice, side effects, etc. This is not the forum for that information. If you have questions or concerns, please speak with your doctor, pharmacist, or contact the companies directly.

Thank you for your understanding with this.

With respect to this advice, on this thread, there were several posts that I tell the potential device pt to seek answers for device choice from their physician, not here. I have never seen a disclaimer for stupidity so this must be a general CYA message to all.

Too bad we have to Warning Label everything these days...are we becoming that stupid of a society?

seen the article is Heart Rhythm magazine? Doesn't look promising.

Oh well, the so-called experts aren't always correct, and you can't believe everything you read. Here is a comment about from the famous Dr. Bernard Lown, the inventor of the external defibrillator:

Several cardiology experts doubted the AICD's potential for clinical success. In 1972 Bernard Lown, the inventor of the external defibrillator, wrote in the journal Circulation, "The very rare patient who has frequent bouts of ventricular fibrillation is best treated in a coronary care unit and is better served by an effective antiarrhythmic program or surgical correction of inadequate coronary blood flow or ventricular malfunction. In fact, the implanted defibrillator system represents an imperfect solution in search of a plausible and practical application."

Yes. Agree. Everything shipped gets implanted. Top priority for Boston is to ramp up production. This is to be expected migrating from a start-up company to major player.

Bullshit...not true...you're an idiot...volume isn't there....not a needed product....no physicians asking for it....feedback from physicians is not positive...Hauser was right again!

Competitive rep here-people are using it and people are talking about. Your whistling past the graveyard if you don't think it's going to impact your own bottom line. Unless your husband is the implanting EP it will hit you.

Most new game changing products show an immediate impact to stock price and/or MS. Why is there no impact?

hahaha. In a few years you will deny ever making this statement.

If this thing is worth a shit every company will have them in a few years. There is nothing unique about the technology in these cans that wasn't invented 20 years ago. A few years??....what a laugher! BSX better start turning a profit tomorrow or they won't be around in 2 yrs.

medtronic had worked on this sort of device many years ago. the project is being dusted off and reactivated.
