You do realize the 21 yr old was non-compliant with his doctors orders? Mountain biking at high altitudes was against his doctors orders but the outcome is tragic non-the-less and it revealed a legitimate problem...not defending them. If it were an 85 yr old non-compliant pt, J&J would have bought Guidant and we wouldn't be having this discussion.

So lets stop arguing. The fact is, the bar has been set and unless a youthful patient doesn't meet the same tragic demise as the Guidant pt, it isn't media worthy and STJ won't be punished. However, doc's and pt's are a lot smarter following the Guidant issues and both are punishing STJ daily in terms of lost ICD business. I can't wait to see their next quarterly ICD #'s.

Completely WRONG. The whole shitstorm around this is that GDT knew there was a problem then fixed it without telling anybody, not that the kid was biking. Hence discussions about quality, reliability, integrity etc..from anybody at GDT\ BSX show what World class DB's they are.

what is different between bsx and stjude in this situation ?

bsx kept secret on the failure rate of prizm and shared this information with Dr. Houser.
Dr. Houser went to the newspapers and the story blew up when J.O. passed away.


STJ appears to be hiding numbers with Riata and durata is the same design...

So who is worse ? BSX or STJ ?

You assholes admit to 3 deaths on your letter and given your companies policy on reporting there are likely numerous more unreported. 9 years and >1000 failures before u say shit. Also what about that boot and curve u put in Riata St then relaunched as Durata? What unreported problem where u fixing? U know how many Durata's i personally know about that came in about a month out damn near out of the chest?????? You point to 1 situation and I point to about 4 or 5 big ones that everyone is talking about but YOU. How does it feel to put pt's at risk everyday and they have no clue that their new fancy lead may kill them in 4 years.
