Biomet Microfixation

30 year old kid? Who classifies people as kids who are in their 30's. Who can take a person seriously when they use words like dickhead and r*****. You obviously failed in your endeavors with this company and are bitter about your failure.

I worked for Biomet Microfixation. I was let go in Feb. 2009. They are exactly as you said. They have a child acting president and it is the good old boy system. They are keeping only the ass kissers and letting the hard working folks go. It will be sold off in about 2-3 years. I was let go because I voiced my concern to sending work to China. I hope it will fall down the tubes and they, the "good old boys" will be looking for work like I had to, which did not take me long to find. It was a blessing. I was an engineer there and I know the products and the quality they sell. Do not go to Biomet Mircofixation for work....you will regret it....but go if you want to chance you are looking for work in 1-2 years max.

You obviously have your head stuck up your a s s. I did not use those words. The rumor internally and on the street is that they are shutting down Biomet microfixation. Kid = someone who is professionally immature, lacks experience, got there for reasons other than respectable achievement... perhaps your lack of comprehension prevents you from seeing reality.

I do agree with some of the things wrote. I work at this company and Im sad to say that alot of the things said are true, the people that are going to be kept after all the layoffs are done with are the ones that are willing to lay down and not fight for quality. Yes ass kissers are there in bigger numbers. The fact is that money is all the they want so China won our business and i will no long have a job that I have worked hard for the last 5 yearsat to give great quality because I believe in this. This company was founded on QUALITY, but now its more like how many short cuts and money saved.China doesnt have that belief in QUALITY. I hope after everything that No Patient is hurt or killed due to this.

Amen to the last post. I worked very hard to help build this company for 10 years. I was rewarded with an environment that was impossible to work in when I would not put up with being spoken to and treated unfairly. I advised my boss of serious regulatory issues and she simply sent me to the Director who was always very nice to me and good at finding problems but useless as a problem solver & leader and we all agreed on that. I understand this director has been fired since I left. This is a regulatory department who I witnessed practically lead auditors to dig into issues involving upper management than put a swerve on it like we knew they would find this tried to tell you. This was a good company for a while but the person who advised some one to run was understating it I would suggest SPRINT. Of course unless you are a spineless ass kiss in which case you should have a bright future there. I have lot's of issues with this company and it's sneaky business practices. It sickened me to see things like the founder's picture removed from a place of honor in the lobby and tucked away in a back hall. The engineer that built that business with Walter "put in his place" by a guy who did not have enough class to treat him with the respect he deserved. None of us would have been there if not for him.

Do you work at the company?? If not you don't understand what things are like, sure some people have moved up in this company but its not from hard work, its from ass kissing and saying the hell with QUALITY PRODUCT! Yes I am lucky to have a job but not to be treated like I am stupid, that is not right. Pay checks are great but when it comes down to going to work everyday and working hard and doing the best you can, not complaining about things, what I want is RESPECT. I don't get the respect that I deserve like others. Sorry, but shipping things to CHINA is not the answer, it is taking jobs from AMERICANS! Cheap is not always the answer. Sales are up, but still they want to cutt cost. Mostly the people that wrote on here are telling the truth. Yes maybe bitter about being let go but the fact is that they were unfairly let go bacause they didn't go with the new way of the company, which is not following the SOPs, Process Specs, and most of all Quality doesn't really matter to must anymore. These people knew the way this company was founded on and the FDA rules and to sit there and not say anything was to much, they just wanted things to improve with out changing the QUALITY, and the FDA rules.

Earning respect at work involves having a basic understanding of tasks, completing projects on time, fulfilling obligations consistently, and generally being the kind of person others trust and rely on. Trust is extremely important when attempting to earn respect. I must point out that one of the top ways to gain respect at work is to "stay off the grape vine." While this can be a fun place to visit, it can make it difficult for others to trust people who fall prey to gossip and take part in the action. (Like the trash-talk you all post on this message board.)

Re: Biomet Microfixation - The real scoop

Everyday that I go into work QUALITY is always number one in my mind because people all over the world uses our product. When I leave at the end of the day their is no doubt in my mind that I did the best that i could that day and everyday... I hope everyday that everyone that had their hands into the making of product does the best they can to make sure that QUALITY is there, because lives depend on it....

What else could you say? Sounds like a much scripted response and if I were you I would say the very exact avowal. Too bad we don’t do as we say. I have the very same sentiment to make the very best but when we have folks, like you, that only concerns them with prestige and how high up the ladder I can go tomorrow. Maybe after all is said and done you will light as most do here at BM. Let us give the patients and doctors the best they can have. Up to this point, I feel we are cheating the system. Do as you say, document the truth, and go home thinking I can do better tomorrow instead of trying to “screw” us employees. We are the base of all the operation and the sooner rather than later you know this, we will all get along. Remember what kind of leadership we have such as; what did the President of the company place in a shoebox at a hotel? What did a VP of R&D do in retaliation? What really goes on behind closed doors? Who is screwing who at work and abroad? We all know the answers and it sickens those who really care at work. What a wonderful company to work for. Good luck as you step on others to get to the top. We are watching as the day will come you will fall and no one will be there to pick you up. What a shame…..

I really enjoy the work I do here & most of the people I work with. However the impact a life propaganda drives me crazy.
They honestly think grand year end parties & family days at the zoo or water park are what keeps employees happy. To me its counter productive amidst needless layoffs.
Hard work, dedication & the desire to do the right thing will only get you a bad rap at Biomet. You will be looked upon as a naysayer or negative employee. Kiss ass, go along with every new idea regardless of how silly it may be & you will do just fine. Never question anything & you will be on your way up.
Capa's, Sop's enviromental & saftey training are done to the bare minimum. All they really desire is for you to sign something saying you have been properly trained. There are so many safety & enviromental dangers blatantly ignored every day. Bring them to attention & you will be punished in one way or another. Osha, Fda, Dep & the Epa could have a feild day in this plant. If they would accualy investigate.

Does anyone have any info on their Sternalock internal fixation device?

Yes, what kind of information are you looking for? Price, selling strategies, clinical effectiveness, competition? Overall, it's a useful system for the right patient. But those are few and far between as CT guys are pretty good at wire circlage. The implant cost is too high to compensate for the low-risk of mediastinitis, and most hospitals are very reluctant to stock a bunch of ~$2000/case implants (given the other charges associated with CABG procedures). Only a couple of "successful" sites - Univ Chicago, where the system was developed, and St. Josephs in Phoenix (they receive a 50% discount to use). The system should drop to just slightly above neuro plating costs if BMF management could get it right. But as has been mentioned by many other posts, the in-house management is a bit slow. Many of the previous comments paint an accurate picture, even if some posts are spelled incorrectly or otherwise jumbled.

Who removed the previous quote telling the world about Adam taking a dump in a towel and leaving it outside of Roman's hotel door? It's immature as hell and describes well the mentality of this company. I think their surgeon-customers should read all about it!

How did you impact a life today ?

I shat in a towell & left in in a hotel hallway for some poor cleaning person to deal with.

Surely impacted that persons life in a positive way !

According to the American Cancer Society, about 5.5 million people died in the world last year over smoking-related diseases and ailments. The number may increase to 6 million during the current year. Many of those, who were killed by smoking, were natives of developing states, but it does not mean that developed states may turn a blind eye on the problem.

The August issue of Gourmet magazine highlighted the apparently high quality of sushi prepared and sold at a BP gas station near the intersection of Ridgeway and Poplar in Memphis, Tenn. A sushi chef works on-site and reportedly sells 300 orders a day.
