Biohaven Pharmaceuticals

If they would pay out 1/2 of what I spent delivering dinners to doctors and their families this past quarter, I'd be doing well. Some of this activity I hear about is borderline criminal. But... management doesn't care, so...

Really depends on the territory. My guess is the ones who made $50k never left their job. The rest are more likely between 5-10k. Some are $0

Whoever told you 50k wasn’t lying but they aren’t telling the whole truth either. Many territories did make 30, 40, 50k + in Q2 when we launched. A few approached 80-100k. The IC plan was fantastic-best most of us had seen in our careers. However, that changed in Q3 and many territories are struggling to meet the target of 10k for the close of September-but coming close. So that actually hasn’t been so bad-especially if you made a huge bonus in Q2. However, the IC plan for Q4 was recently announced and it’s hands down the worst most of us have seen in our careers. Very few will hit the target bonus of 10k this quarter. So, it depends how you look at it. Over the course the of the year it’s not so bad and we are a start up so it’s not realistic to think they can continue to pay massive quarterly bonuses, but the real money was to be made right out of launch. We‘ll see if they will better the IC plan if we do get the prevention indication.

thank you for the answer. Sounds like q2 was where it’s at. What about Q4 is bad? The goals or the payout?

This company all of the sudden turned into a pressure cooker, and there’s no real bonus potential anymore. So, if you’re new and missed the bonus in the first quarter, you missed the only opportunity to make any bonus money. Plus they’re putting big emphasis on face to face, so you’ll be forced to fake it like those that send private emails and then call it a face to face interaction; or those that say they have a virtual speaker engagement with five people, knowing that only one person is going to show up; or those that haven’t left their house yet, but have high-volume headache center so they’re not getting any pressure; or those who are sending dinner to docs at home (in my opinion this is pushing the envelope) They said this company would be different, but it’s not.

spot on

They have removed all motivation due to the current ic plan unless you have a headache center- The only territories that are rewarded at this point are high volume territories.
There is no way a territory can compete (rank or ic) without a headache center. There is something broken with an ic plan that only rewards the same territories over and over.
There has been no consideration for covid shutdowns. There are so many territories and states that are still extremely limited with face to face interactions due to covid and it’s been swept under the rug.
No rep is motivated by being “at goal” and then throw in the fact that some territories have a 500% growth expectation (yes- you heard that right) to be at goal... you tell me if that’s fair or right?
this is a launch- ic should be based on growth. By the time the company recognizes the flawed ic plan, the smaller volume territories will have maxed out growth and will once again be screwed.
Reevaluating my decision to come here everyday as I know many of my colleagues are...

If you didn’t make good money Q2 then you’re not a good rep. I’m sure I’ll be attacked but if you didn’t make $25K then you’re not good at your job. You did have to sell what you did Q2 to make anything in Q3. Same is true for Q4. Everyone knows that you make your money the first quarter of a launch in pharma. Not true about headache centers...there are plenty of territories that are doing great without headache centers. Being in any kind of sales during Covid is hard but Biohaven isn’t making it any more difficult. Be happy you have a good paying job and sack up.

Biohaven dangled the carrot in front of everyone to get us on board. Make major bucks and then be victims of a reevaluated compensation plan. If you came from TAKEDA and knew BJ and Chris you know these guys won’t over pay sales people
