STP was my listening choice in between calls. I also sold a boat load of Crestor! Great memories of my career at AZ.
I also liked AZ and retired, great benefits and great pay. Plus the drug I sold were pretty good...STP was my listening choice in between calls. I also sold a boat load of Crestor! Great memories of my career at AZ.
Miss getting paid to stand in sample closets and cater in Olive Garden? Don’t forget the bread sticks!! The fat people at the front desk love those! I can’t see how any of us find satisfaction in this shitty job. Sure, it pays ok, particularly if you convert the salary to a wage - hundreds per hour since we don’t do anything meaningful, and we work like 3 hours a day - but I just know I’m going to get to the end of this with zero self respect. That’s worth something too. I think the worst part about the job, particularly with AZ, is the worthless people we call leaders. These people would not be leaders in any other industry. Just listen to your DM or Director the next time you’re forced to endure 3 days of sitting in a room listening to them roll through a slide deck and ask yourself, is this a leader? Only in pharma.STP was my listening choice in between calls. I also sold a boat load of Crestor! Great memories of my career at AZ.
Things were different in the 80s and 90s. Doctors actually liked to see us and there was office staff respect for the "pharma guy" - - - many wanted to date us. We wore nice suits and were professional sales people. Third party payers were not as powerful and you could SELL the merits of your drugs. The downfall of today's pharma reps are multifaceted.Miss getting paid to stand in sample closets and cater in Olive Garden? Don’t forget the bread sticks!! I guess I am an old timer but the job was rewarding back then. In fact, I met my future wife, a receptionist for one of my key docs, and we have been married going on 34 years! OMG!! Don't post your drivel on this site!! Nobody cares about the old days with AZ!!! I hear your wife is divorcing you for her old doc.I guess I am an old timer but the job was rewarding back then. That is super. Many nice nurses and staff, they would actually help. The tenor of your post is a reason for the demise of pharma reps. Ignorance, entitlement and crudeness are why docs don’t see you. Keep on delivering Olive Garden, punk!OMG!! Riiiiight.Agree! Today’s reps are their own worst enemies. When we were reps, there was strong loyalty to AZ, district team work, respect for our customers, and a full day work ethic. AZ was good to me. Thanks!
I was in sales starting in 1984..no phones or Fakebook etc...then in 1997 Parke-Davis which I loved made us get cell phones. I had a rural route and back then a lot of my area had NO coverage. Docs, hardly ever called unless someone in their family was on our drug. I did notice other reps, wanted to call me to "Complain" about everything...I soon learned this was a NO win situation. I would not call them back. I got out of pharma sales in 2013, retired from AZ. They were a good company to work for, plus I got my medical insurance coverage until I reached 65. Thanks again...AZ a good Bloke!
Great post! I too enjoyed a rewarding career at AZ. I was blessed with great managers and peers. We all helped each other in the District.Agree! Today’s reps are their own worst enemies. This is such bullshit. Nice propaganda post. Things were better, true, but this was always a shallow career. I will say it is much worse now than when I got into the racket many years ago, and AZ is definitely a shit show.Great post! I too enjoyed a rewarding career at AZ.
