I was just hired for an end of Aug. start with the ds4 team.. Contract 5 months and i was told great potential for continuation of contract. Can anyone give me their thoughts on when they would inform people when the contract would be renewed or not? Do you get severance pay or anything?

PSS pays ZERO severance on every contract. So you took a 5 month gig and believed their lie about possible continuation? Too funny. They will never pay you severance here. And they will always tel you there is a good chance of the contract being extended. It is very likely to end by this year. So keep your resume circulating. You'll be looking for a job soon. I woukd find something else now if I was you.

Why would they hire anyone for 5 months left on contract??! This entire contract thing doesn't add up. There have been reorgs recently and now the talk of the contract reps booted before the year ends. Frustrating.. At least let us know what the deal is!

WHY would they backfill a position with only a few months left on the contract? BECAUSE they are PAID to fill all positions until the contract is over. They have metrics to meet just like we do. Duh! They could care less about YOU!
 












Lol to person who said im a dummy. I took bc of circumstance but was told big az person saying yes. Ive never worked a contract why i asked the question.i understand matrix they must meet. And i was also told they were going to let you know within the first three months. They could have been lying of course. Has anyone had help on getting another position within company, i was also told they are trying to actually hire some reps.

Yes, they were lying to you. They would never give anyone that much heads up. If you're fine with having the income for a few months, then I'm glad that works for you. But seriously don't expect anything more out of them. There are openings here abd there with the company, and you can get a AZ job. But just know that there will still be a lot of competition, and unless you've been in the territory for a while, they probably won't hire you.

Bitch please this is a chat. I am not trying to impress you! Again what was your purpose of even answering my question from the jump. Its dfs like you who make this site less crediable. I dont need to be gramatically correct on here. So blow away. Nobody who is really trying to get good information needs you acting like a 12 year old. I've been on numerous contracts over the past 10 years... did other kinds of sales in between and I didn't even start in pharmaceutical sales until I was over 50. Prior to that I ran my own company for over 20 years... then successfully sold it when I decided I needed a change. I did several other outside sales positions and this is really the easiest gig I've ever had. Have been on a contract where 500 of us were hired for a 2 year contract, but it ended after 6 months and we were given 1 month severance. I've been placed on other contracts immediately after in some instances, and other times, I just had some time off. I have never looked for a pharmaceutical sales job, but have always been sought out by the recruiters. I don't think that contract is a terrible place... it gives you an inside peek at the way the parent company operates and have had the opportunity to apply for positions with big pharmaceutical companies but have turned it down for various reasons. You never know with contract though... this AZ position was supposed to be for 1 year... and now we are going on year 4. Don't have a crystal ball... and really, no complaints. Just want to give an honest answer for a few people who are looking for honesty. And... sometimes I have done fairly well on the bonus side... one year it was 20K...other years... perhaps 2K.

I was told that managers are out in dallas and they are trying to extend the contract past for 2015. Has anyone else heard this? When will they inform reps. I have never done contract before so i don't know what the process is like when the contract ends. Can they just randomly say its over at any point? Or do they have to adhere to the full contracts terms? Thanks and please anyone with just rude comments about my questions don't respond

As a former manager with another company,I can tell you that the managers only know that they are told by their bosses. So,they may hire you honestly thinking that the contract will be extended. But,in reality,they don`t know.
