Attune info

I haven't seen any reports of trials breaking on the Maude database. I would assume this is just a competitive rep stirring pot. This has been more of something I have had to overcome than a selling feature. The surgeons don't care how light the trays are. I also have guys who like to put the trial on with the impactor that grabs the trial. They don't have this ability now.

It's happened.
I wouldn't expect these to be reported to Maude.

Agree about the weight of the trays. Good for reps and staff, but has zero impact on whether a surgeon uses it.

Aspects of the instruments I'm sure will take adjusting to. However I am getting some very good feedback from surgeons about how their patients are performing. Is this a "game changer" and a product surgeons will be knocking down your door to try? No. But hopefully when patients are further out, word will travel and the attune will perform well. That's what I hope at least...

It is a shame no one at Depuy talked to the field when designing instruments. There is stuff for the design guys and then instruments for the average and competitive surgeon. If they had added a few instruments and possibly made the composite femur trials optional I think they would have had a better response from surgeons and the field

Same for the ReClaim instruments.

Only guys who like Attune are Sigma users. And how long before we see this headline "Depuy recalls AOX poly after 10,000 early failures. Documents show that Depuy changed the testing parameters to show superior wear rates with a commercial antioxidant." Thats under the assumption that 10,000 are actually ever sold.

I am a competitive rep and I am starting to sense that the established DePuy reps are afraid to show this thing. Naturally, the newbie DePuy reps will go out and sell the Attune like the Hitler Youth in 1945 and clear out Allied mine fields by getting blown to pieces for their beloved DePuy sales Fuhrers. Nice new name tags guys! It seems like "Synthes" is getting bigger than "DePuy" every time I see a DePuy rep.

I do wish they had given us a regular crosslinked option on Attune. This would give people a chance to try one new thing at a time. That said, Antioxidant poly is not something Depuy is introducing to the market, it is used by Biomet, Zimmer, DJO. Stryker is working on one. Zimmer's new knee is antioxidant poly. There is as much data on Attune poly as X3 when it was launched and even more on antioxidant poly in general. I have had a couple surgeons mention that Stryker reps were trying to use ASR to bash Attune. When I brought up their recent recalls and crossfire poly it put it to rest.

All those other companies use vitamin E which is an antioxidant that is naturally occurring and very familiar to all, while Depuy uses some antioxidant that is commercially produced and has no other applications in medicine let alone orthopedics. Seems a bit risky for a company that already has a few black eyes and questionable upper level decision making.

I logged onto this site for the first time and would like to report my experience with Attune. We have implanted over 400 Attunes at our hospital. This implant is a game changer. Patients are reporting much better range of motion vs Sigma and Triathlon at 6 weeks and beyond. Femoral fit is excellent especially for women. Narrow sizes and 1mm poly's a huge jump forward. My surgeons are ecstatic. This is a great implant. Not one case of patella clunk vs 2% or more with Sigma PS. Very bone sparing. Patello-Femoral articulation and tracking has been excellent.

Instruments work fine though I don't think they are much better than HP. I admit the Polymer inst feel cheap but they work fine. Poly femoral trials and modular trials have not been an issue at all. The implant will drive sales after surgeons observe how well patients recover their ROM. I speak from experience. I have read all the Attune posts and am surprised at all the uninformed bullshit being reported. The Attune implant will take market share.

Lol, what a joke. If my surgeon was getting paid he might say better things about it. Not a Game changer, just another knee to sell. Probably just a trolling manager anyways.

Please do your homework. Why is one of the designing surgeons now using a different company? Yes, it's a game changer. Just ask your fellow reps.

This post is uninformed bullshit being reported or like previous post mentioned...a product manager panicking. This goofball just threw the Sigma under the bus and that is what pays the bills
