Quite some open positions at NVS... means the ones let go, are really of no use?

The good ones, those with other alternatives left, those still here are what biologist would call, "the losers in the Darwinian lottery".

There are some people who were not affected but chose to leave anyway (good for them - no one wants to be stuck with a crapload of work from people who have been displaced).
What is bothersome is that people who are affected are not even being offered chances to get the vacated position (coming from the SAME department)...
Sad case of purging (HR sucks in the way they are looking away while this happens)

The problem is that you are paid way too much for an assembly line - you don't add value commentate with your costs.
