Another Downsizing

Here’s the thing.... how old were you when you were let go? Lilly overwhelmingly gets rid of reps 40 years old or older! Lilly culture STINKS! Don’t trust anyone in management! They are all liars! There will be layoffs next year! Q2 2019 is just around the corner!
no you are wrong on this statement sorry I have to call you on it but Lilly gets rid of 48 and over reps, managers and Directors. If you are under 48 the likeness of you getting released is only 20%. Hope this helps everyone to plan on what’s going down.

Layoffs happen everywhere...I've been through 2 here. But one thing is always true- the Strong always remain. The weak leaks are gone. The difference is knowing if you are a weak leak when you think you are strong. Management found me 2 different roles after being displaced 2x and if it happens again I know I will be taken care of. They know who can SELL and who can't.

Regards
Get over yourself! First of all what we do as “sales reps” isn’t selling! Your time will come! Wait until you are a little older, that is when Lilly will get rid of you! By the way, I know a lot of great reps that were let go in previous reorganization’s! Let’s face it, we are just glorified UPS drivers that just so happen to set down with customers and buy them lunch! Wait for the next go around that person could be you!

It's sad to see so many pharmacists give up their careers to become glorified UPS drivers for Lilly. So sad.

Maybe you don't sell- but speak for yourself. Dr.'s have many choices in prescribing- true some of that choice is taken because of managed care- but they still have choices. When they choose me over the other drug that is selling. My relationships and ability to help Dr.'s get by outcomes put me above the typical sheep pharma rep.

Reps like me always find jobs. If not within the organization I have plenty of opportunities outside the organization. When you are known amongst your peers and Dr.'s as the "best" opportunities are plentiful. When you are a sheep amongst the sheep you don't.

Regards sheep!

So, this board is now oriented towards science fiction?

In a hole in the ground there lived a hobbit. Not a nasty, dirty, wet hole, filled with the ends of worms and an oozy smell, nor yet a dry, bare, sandy hole with nothing in it to sit down on or to eat: it was a hobbit-hole, and that means comfort...

This is true.

Classic. The quote above, "When they choose ME over the other drug that is selling." Now that is priceless. This 'person' has deluded themselves into thinking they are competing against an inanimate object. It is good to know that Doctors, who in the Primary Care world are essentially useless, are choosing a slick salesman, or salesperson, over what is best for the patient. Of course, who cares about the patient? They are just fat, opioid-addled losers, suffering from diabetes etc.

No reps= no billion dollar drugs. Simple as that. The companies need us.

So what are the chances of getting hired at 52?

Are you STUPID???!!! Get over yourself! Doctors wouldn’t prescribe Lilly medications because they like you or you are the greatest sales rep, they prescribe what’s best for their patient! Or what’s on formulary. Plus they are really only interested in the free lunch!

They pay you quite well here- well some of us anyways. But you have to perform consistently and play the game. The money isn't the problem here- its always playing the game.

Fact check: even the highest paid reps at Lilly are below market value for oncology. About 20-30k on average. Keep playing the game and getting underpaid. People there are other jobs out there...

The competition only pays more to compensate for the lack of dignity and pride that comes with every position at Lilly. Lilly is the best and always will be.

Sincerely yours,

The Lilly Senior Leadership Team

My son teaches at a Catholic grade school. He was a top student in undergraduate university (Phi Beta Kappa), has two masters degrees and four years of teaching experience. His salary ? Just under $35,000 / year. He'd love to get the salary and benefits package that Lilly sales reps and Lilly office employees receive. Just sayin.

What a waste of privilege if he’s a white male. He must REALLY be a horrible interviewer.

You are right to some extent. Some patients the choice of medicine is obvious for side effect or efficacy reasons, other patients are forced to try a medicine based on formulary restrictions- but plenty for plenty of patients the Dr. can go multiple directions and feel they will have the same outcome- in those patients the rep makes a huge difference.

If you don't think so you should really rethink what you are doing in the field- do you even have relationships, do you offer any value outside of a lunch, are you even an expert on the drug you promote or the disease state you represent? Its a shame reps like you exist- if you were in my district you are the type of rep I coach out of the company and hopefully industry.

“Coach out of the company and industry.” Geez, who in the fuck are you? With that attitude, one day you’re going to come across the wrong rep.

Is this what the conference call tomorrow is about? When they say they want to talk about "...where we are headed as a company" it raises suspicion. Any legit insight greatly appreciated.
