Abbott unethical company with employees/attn WSJ and NY Times reporters reporters

Why can't they really let us know what is going on so that we can plan our lives accordingly? They love the surprise attack with no warning and leaving us high and dry. So unethical. Why can't they help us to get to informed decisions? The only possible reason is that they will be screwing us financially. Screwing the people who have been making them money. HR should be calling all retirement eligible employees and offering them a package to get them to go or asking for volunteers. I've seen it done with enough companies to know it's not out of the ordinary for that to happen. Why can't Abbott behave ethically for once and do this?

Because that would interfere with goals and therefore bonuses. That's all mgmt cares about goals bonuses and their illusory efforts to r and d drugs. It's all a fucking farce. They don't listen to scientists and do what they want which is wrong 99.9% of the time. Decisions are made beforehand and then you have to fabricate data that fits it.

Okay I'm talking about the split of the company here not r and d and bonuses. YES I'm sure Miles wants to pocket as much money as possible with the split, however, I'm talking about the ethical thing to do with all their employees going through the split. I've seen many companies ask for volunteers to retire. Why can't they do that now? Why can't they give ALL employees some kind of heads up about what is going on so that we may make plans that are in the best interest of taking care of our families. Why always Tues night at 5pm we get told not to go to work tomorrow? Why can't just once they do something ethical so that we might have a better chance to prepare and survive? It's because they want to squeeze every last minute out of us working. Abbott doesn't care about any of the employees. All the Q & A about the split have been answered in such vague terms it has told us nothing!!!!!!!!! They are purposely keeping us in the dark.

Hate to tell ya but you win the "Most Obvious Statement" award. Duh?! This is all news to you? Now get out there and bust your balls till we tell you to stay home in the fourth quarter after the split. Even severence money can be saved not to mention how we are going to save a bundle on pension and benefits!! Stay tuned you stinkin rep.

Re: Abbott unethical company with employees/attn WSJ and NY Times reporters report

When you fire people after the split you do that according to the new rules of each which will include possibly no or very limited severance. If you let people know now, and tey choose to retire, you still have to pay them according to the current rules. Face it Abbott or Abbvie (what a shit name btw) don't care about you or anybody else. As long as "upper fucker mgmt" makes bank who gives a shit about anyone else? And that's why the vague language, so they can extract the last bit of work from you

Other companies have asked for volunteers for retirement. It happens. Abbott COULD do that but as usual, they will shaft their employees.

We're gonna have to sit tight for now. Maybe, just maybe, when June arrives and Abbott/AbbVie has to report their plans for the new company, we'll have some answers. What choice do we have? You can start a job search, but unless you find something in this lousy economy that offers comparable pay/benefits and better security, you're probably stuck until something shakes out of AP.

Here's a thought that might make you feel better. If it's rough on us down here in the trenches wondering what will happen, imagine the cut-throat musical chairs being played out in Chicago as everyone fights for the last spots on the Legacy Abbott lifeboat. Any hot shot who can't finagle a slot in old Abbott is sure to scratch and claw for a seat at the Humira table at AbbVie.

For me, as a Cardiovascular Care rep, selling these tired old products, or at least TRYING to see someone who can write a RX, surviving the split would be almost as depressing as being unemployed. To paraphrase Mr T, "I pity the fool who gets stuck at AbbVie!"

Well I'm fortunate and I have something good to fall back on. I will be just fine. Stayed as long as I did because I kept surviving every layoff and got complacent. Was always very unhappy but was making good money. It's no longer worth it to me, and I will be moving on to my new career. This whole split forced me out of my comfort zone which was a good thing, and I will have no regrets about leaving. This company IS unethical with it's employees.

You ain't seen nuthin yet. This next screw job with Abbvie is going to make your other complaints look like a walk in the park. If you are not yet retirement age, but close, say hello to the reaming of a lifetime. Want to keep riding this hamster wheel called pharma sales alittle longer? Sorry. If you are "lucky" enough to make it through the first bloodbath of layoffs and want to keep your same bennies, sorry, got to cut expenses further.
This Abbvie operation will be the complete opposite of your cake walk thus far in PPD. "Lean and mean" has already been revealed as the new mantra. Get the picture?

Re: Abbott unethical company with employees/attn WSJ and NY Times reporters report

OK got it. So whats your point? There is nothing we can do about it so I'm just going to work harder! (LOLOLOLOLOLOL!!!)

I AM retirement age and I'm gonna get screwed too.

Actually, I found Norm, Cliff, Sam, Coach, and Diane quite entertaining. Even in reruns.

Re: Abbott unethical company with employees/attn WSJ and NY Times reporters report

How so, old timer? You get your big fat pension. Many others will not.

My pension not that big......came to Abbott through a merger and they rolled my years over to Abbott from former company, but wouldn't let us start building pension right away. My 401k is very healthy. I will be screwed in that I have earned the health insurance for life. No way Abbvie is going to welcome us over to a brand new company and let us keep that. I predict similar to Hospira justifying everything they do by saying it's a brand new company and everything starts from scratch.
