You are correct in saying that the products are easy. Here is some additional 411 on meter sales that might be helpful. Meters are a very non-technical sell and very OTC driven. Most docs could care less about which meter their pts get, most pharmacists are a bunch of OTC coupon hocking geeks, CDEs are cool but have high turnover and are looking to increase their pay by getting into sales. Meter sales are viewed as a soft sell and considered more of a consumer job. Hope this helps.

A true Pharmaceutical rep talking. You just can't understand this industry until you are in it, ask any rep who is in it, that came from Pharma. above poster is correct about the non technical, but there are differences, and that is the problem, reps want to sell Features and Benefits and not on the clincal part of the product. There are differences in chemistry, Accuracy, and then Features and benefits. Good Luck.
 








My f2f is Thursday with Abbott. I have already had a f2f in specialty pharma with another co. They are talking a range of 76-85K in base with a target bonus of 26K and no primary care call points. Is this money comparable to Abbott Meters?

Received offer from ADC this morning. Wanted to see how high they could go. There best offer 71K was still 15K less than another offer that I accepted a week ago. Sorry ADC!
 








There are a few and only a few good DMs at ADC. For the most part, they are as lame as lame can be. They may not be as obnoxious as the former WI mgr, but their brains are hollow. Just collecting their pay checks with nothing else to offer.

I must say as a former ADC'r, you are right on the BULLSEYE. It is sad to see such a great product being just taken right down the tube. I wish all my ADC friends well and keep chugging along!

Coming from another Abbott Division, there comes a time when one has to recognize that a given product or pharmaceutical has become a commodity, or is viewed as a generic. That's where the BGM business is today. Recognize it, own it and move on.

Time to bid aggressively, get the business and pull it through. With mail order becoming the wave of the future (well, it's already here), the boomers aging, the growing Type 2 population and the situation with the economy, there is no other choice.

When will sr mgmt learn that they are the problem? They need to take some ownership and hold themselves accountable for once.
