I was so mad during the Daytona500 at the ED "hawkers" you speak of from Lilly and Pfizer I almost punched out the TV. Why? My 7 year old grandson loves auto racing and I continually had to mute the set when the hucksters spouted their ads over and over.

I have been around plenty of little kids when these ads come on, and honestly, they don't even listen.

You guys are all twisted up about nothing. If they ask, just tell them:

A -- go ask Grandma
B -- tell them the truth
C -- say you don't understand it either

D-- well little Johnny, this is a byproduct of the sleazy advertising huckster world we live in. These companies spend millions to hawk their products via lies,deceptions, and sleaze-whatever it takes to make/steal a buck. Just look at the lying food mfgs who hawk their poisons to the body telling you it is good for your health. Marketing hucksters go to college to learn how to lie,lol.

I hate them too, and I don't like selling it, but there's really little difference in how gross the tampon ads are. And if we remove that from the tv, we should definitely get rid of all the violence in video games and movies. Only leads to the acceptance of murder, blood, etc. I really really really hate the ads for shoot 'em up violent movies and robotics. Total crap.

At least they finally eliminated cigarette ads and sponsorships. Next will be alcohol. Who else is going to sponsor auto races? Only so much ad money can come from gasoline, auto parts, tools, and auto manufacturers. I still remember the first TV drug ads--only mentioned there was a new medication for a particular disease (I believe it was by Upjohn when Motrin was introduced). Very professional, got people to see docs, sold a lot Motrin. All went downhill from there.

My son's 6th grade class was asked to write a paper on violence in video games. It amazing how many kids wrote that video game violence was out of control and desensitizing. A large majority felt violence(gore) should be eliminated from video games for kids (kids younger than them, anyway).

I think THE worst pharma ad that occurred in America was Nuvasive advertising to the public and to surgeons that they could do the XLIF surgery using the plastic Coroent XL spine spacer....without fixation.

When their 510 (k) FDA Letter for the device stated Fixation is required.

The FDA just ordered the to re-label the boxes of the implants saying the plastic spacer can't bear loads.

Think of allll those people who got XLIF surgeries, without fixation. Bet they're mad now knowing their plastic spine spacer can fail any day...

Nuvasive takes the medal for worst Medical Advertising Campaign....lots of surgeons now must be in fear of what they've done.
