So you were just blowing out your numbers and you had an issue with your manager? My guess is no. You may have been working but that doesn't mean you were getting the business. Pharma has nothing to do with it. Either you can make it happen here or you can't. I'm guessing you could not and now you're pissed and bitter at the reality of it. I've been in labs a long time and I've seen it weed out a lot of people. Take your poisonous attitude to another board and get off ours! We work too hard every day to have you diminish it by whining.
Lab is truly no different than Pharma or Medical Sales in that it is all about developing the business. What is different, are the markets. Now, when 1 blanket formula for growing business, setting goals, etc. is utilized, there will be inconsistencies. This does not mean that someone has failed. What works in the Indiana Market won't work in Florida, and is completely different than what works in Utah. Where there is a disconnect is how the company represented the position versus realities of the market. Until they realize that not one formula to grow the business works for every market, and allows the Territory Manager to truly do what they were hired to do (as they know their market), there will continue to be what you perceive as "pissed off" or disgruntled people. Bottom line-the company needs to look at each territory market and set realistic goals, expectations, etc.
