Worst job you have seen your downsized pharma. rep friend doing...

I did the humbling route. From a national account manager to stocking shelves in a big box store plus slinging cigarettes and lotto tickets in a convenience store. You can have it. I will live out of my car before I work for 8.00 dollars again. It was ok as means of pure survival and I get the point, but it has its limits like everything else.

No more. I will live out my car and pan handle.

Additionally, I learned the 8.00 an hour crowd is beyond flaky to work with. Spend some time around them and realize why they have been in the service sector for 30 years. FLAKY!

Flaky as in.......dumb. Example, a government dependent single mother who calls in sick weekly and spends half of her earnings on tattoos and Marlboros. Those will be your new found co-workers.

Specialty Rep to Home Depot. Actually most of the people there are pretty competent in their positions and take providing excellent customer service seriously. Down side of course is pay but employees do get bonuses each half based on store performance (of course noting like pharma) It's helped me keep my sanity while I'm in search probably biggest benefit.

you get it…you saw the Wizard behind the curtain…I too am amazed how pharma sales these days seems to be populated with people that are not only clueless, but completely lacking in awareness, self or otherwise…I think the companies want it that way, so the executives don't get asked a lot of questions…

Make no mistake about it…Big Pharma is a Ponzi Scheme of the worst order…It is all about the executive managers playing the useful idiots below them, to enrich themselves…

totally corrupt…I miss the money but nothing else about the industry…

FU PHARMA INDUSTRY!!

Im now a "consultant" since my position was terminated as part of a merger (i have a contract for a limited time), my S.O was also laid off and we are very worried about how we can find the similar amazing jobs we had, the market is not as good and there are a LOT of other great professionals competing for the same jobs

it's amazing how this thread was started 10 years ago and everything is still the same if not worse. Forced out of the business 5 years ago, not going to lie it has been difficult, the only thing I miss is the money and some of the people, although the majority of the people in this business are two faced , ass kissing woossies. I cringe every time I hear the same stories from people that are still in the industry, moranic managers, useless assignments and the constant daily lie that rips your soul apart. I was very successful as a rep and I tell people all the time if I had to do it all over again there is no way in hell I would go into pharma.

It never was a sales job to begin with.

Its more of a marketing/public relations/human resources gig. Very unsophisticated. Dealing with managers that were the beer drinkers and escorts in college. Disgraceful "career", reserved for losers at life.
