Working for SS in the NE?? DON’T!!!

How is this guy still employed in Pharma with all the controversy that’s so ubiquitous and pervasive regarding his absolutely aberrant and rude behavior towards subordinates. I was just at a retirement gathering with somebody from Amgen who brought his name up and everybody agreed that he is a terrible person so how is he still around? I just don’t get it and he has plenty of money from all these earlier gigs where he got stock options and whatnot so why does he continue to make people miserable as a horrible leader?

He will ride majestic through the alley of grains

Leadership values Spodick correctly, and it's why the highest position to which he'll ever rise is that of DM. After an almost a forty year career, and in spite of his egregious ass-kissing of superiors and constant angling for promotion, all he's ever managed to achieve is a lowly DM title. It's truly laughable, especially since it's well known by absolutely that he's always aspired to do more.

The interesting thing is that despite any of his teams' successes through the years, the executive leadership teams at each of the 3-4 companies for which he's worked have all independently come to realize that any of his districts' sales achievements are actually in spite of his management style. In fact, Spodick is so arrogantly dismissive of his underlinings that, when combined with his utter lack of any self-awareness, he's blind to the realization that he's been kissing ass in the wrong direction all these years. The successful reps upon whose backs he's ridden to any district awards are the same ones warning executives of his disastrous management style. This is instantly proven with simple glance at the sheer amount of attrition in Steve's teams throughout his career as compared to that of his peers.

The long and short of it is that his reputation is absolutely tarnished in our industry. He's still here after 6+ years because nobody else will hire him other than the remaining 1 or 2 legacy Amgen people he's sucked-up to, and they are all close to retiring as did CT. It's basically the end of the road for him. When Coherus finally implides, so will his career. Good riddance.
