Working for Biomet

What most people outside of Warsaw don't know is that Biomet is the butt of many jokes from the other orthopedic companies. Most of the rejects from JnJ and Zimmer end up going to Biomet, mostly because no one else will take them. To work at Biomet is to mean you are essentially second rate. Don't go there, or make sure your stay is brief as possible. Otherwise it will look like a stain on your resume.

Nebraska Biomet Distributor?

I had an interview for the Biomet Recon opening in Nebraska. Does anyone know the Biomet distributor (out of Des Moines) and his sales manager. I am getting mixed signals from him. I spoke to several docs in territory, they seem to be lukewarm or dont know him.
I would appreciate any help. Thanks.

From the Biomet website...

When I first saw this I laughed my ass off - who came up with this BS? No. 1 is "respect for people"? what a bunch of crap!

"Why Become an Biomet Team Member?

Wow- look at their recent attempt to change peoples perception. See 2nd Mile Mission video. Shameful.

A important reminder of those many employees, off site offices that lost so much during the consortium take over......... The demographics are alot different these days, for the worst.

You mean IPO. Yes they should, but I doubt it will make any difference. Stock holders are in for the profits. Guess they are not getting enough revenue back from the sorry buyout, so they'll put it on the market and sell the company. This was the goal when they purchased it in 2007. As for the tax abatement for hiring over 150 jobs over 4 yrs, what a joke. Does the state and county bother confirming their past employees commitments for previous abatements were justified, to the tax payers.

I agree Biomet is not the company it once was. It also is not the company it will someday be. All businesses change with time, circumstances, ownership, market, etc. Some of the "old Biomet" was great and is gone, some of the "old Biomet" was not so great for today's $3B company...change is not always good or bad, its just different. I would not hesitate to work for this company...it has a great future regardless of what you think it once was.

Good comments. It's all about learning to dance the dance. When you compare Biomet to the other companies in the business I'd much rather be here. We actually have leaders with dignity who care about the company and employees. Currently we have a good mix of the old and new leadership. Change is coming and we will embrace that too. Companies can't grow without change. Let's keep in mind that jealousy and hate come from the same place.

Proud to be a Biomet team mate.

Right...... Ask the people in NJ about the dignity of Biomet management, and how they care about their employees, after they lied to their faces about their jobs being safe, investing $15M to renovate a new facility, all the while knowing full well that a deal was in the works to move the business out of NJ....,......"dignity" is not in their dictionary......

Sorry to tell you, but NJ has been a train wreck for ever! The products were never the "core" products and the entire operation was separate from Warsaw, therefore they never got the interest or attention it deserved.

And you are completely missing the point.......following your logic, because Warsaw didn't care about NJ, they didn't have to treat them with the dignity and respect they are so full of??

Be specific. What did they do? They previously moved out of a way to large and inappropriate building, downsized, fired incompetent management, purchased another company, gave employees legal notice of changes/terminations. Not that it makes it any easier for those who are caught up in those changes, but it happens. In today's world jobs change, jobs end, businesses get bought and sold. Again, sympathy for anyone who lost jobs but this is not unique to Biomet or was not handled any other than how it had to be.

Go back and read Post #50... That went on for over a year !!! The people in NJ were told one month before the acquisition was finalized that the company was moving the business.

Maybe Zimmers will make an improvement to the current Management. Starting with Biomets Personnel & Human resources departments now. Dump them all starting with Jack Heeter.

If you are waiting for the Zimmer leadership to make things better, you had better settle in and bring a snack. That is not their specialty.
